Kudos to the Lebanese for not losing focus on education even after everything they passed through and are passing through. This country has a literacy rate of 95% which I think is quite amazing given the circumstances there. ❤

Lebanon is very beautiful country and the people there are very gentle. I visted Beirut in 2010. It was a nice journey. I still remember the beautiful places I visited in Beirut. I wish all the best for Lebanon

I remember those stacks so well...in the 1980s I spent day, months, and years sitting on the floor between the books. My professor, Dr. Walker, had asked for special permission to allow me to go up there. They were locked and you had to have good reason to go up there. There is where I fell in love with the University of California after reading a book about the FSM at Berkeley. I ended up getting my PhD from the UCSD because of that. Now I am a faculty there. There is where I first read about the theory of relativity. Jafeth library stacks is where I saw my first set of "The Great Books of the Western World" and I read Bacon and Darwin. As you walked between the book, it brought back specific moments of discovery...I could almost see pages of books I had read up there.
