This is so awesome. The forests of Lebanon were quite lierally the stuff of legends, the quality of its woods were famed far and wide throughout the ancient world, used in projects ranging from Gilgamesh's city of Uruk to Solomon's Temple and palace in Jerusalem. I hope and pray this effort is successful.

Really well done video. I like how each aspect of the project is broken down. Really gives a glimpse into the entire process of reforestation.

I loved that the young trees were given a mulch of rocks to help retain moisture & prevent any possible erosion from the wind & heavy rain. I also loved the attention to detail that ensured preservation of the plastic seedling containers for future reuse. Plastic usage in the horticultural industry is extremely problematic as even the most conscientious gardener/recycler normally finds it extremely difficult to recycle the (mostly) black plastic containers once you've finished with them. After all, most of us can only reuse so much before it becomes a waste product. We're often told that there's no market for black plastic but I find this extremely difficult to fathom as literally, tonnes of new black plastic is produced yearly in various forms. I'm also curious to know if there's been a significant build-up in soil that have been planted for more than 5 years.

I imagine micro climates will be setting up in these places , biomass in the soil will only increase after this . Its all good . And for a country with a tree on its flag to actually have forests and not just 1 or 2 trees here and there .

I wish I could be there in 50 years and see how big the trees have grown , with a forestation the Lebanese will rediscover something they lost and it will help them greatly .

A little more tree biodiversity would be good in these reforestation projects, otherwise it's just tree plantations. They need animals in these areas and 'alleycropping'would be a way to manage competition to the trees while protecting the trees themselves from animals browsing on the trees. Normally it is a bad idea to handle potted trees by the main stem. The weight of the soil breaks fine roots... Like that they're using the zai pit tchnique.

At 1•43 it looks as though attempt has been made to prevent rain runoff by digging trenches but it seems that they weren't created by digging on contour which would have been more effective at water retention. After watching this video for the second time, I wonder if the valley communities below well established areas of reforestation are starting to enjoy a more reliable ground water supply. This is a common experience in other parts of the world where reforestation has taken place.
