I loved my Paula with all my heart, she loved me with her very soul, and touched mine. We lived life, we loved one another with every fibre of our being, hers was a beautiful soul and a wonderful heart. She was chirpy, generous, happy. She was flawed as well, like all humans, but I loved her so much I didn't mind, she filled my life, she filled my heart, she entered my very soul. Then along came cancer, and after 8 months, it was all over, my Paula was gone, my Paula had become a memory, my heart is broken, my soul wounded, I keep going only because she told me to, for life is a gift, not to be wasted. One day my love, we will once again, go along our river walk, hand in hand, hugging from time to time, and I shall once more whisper softly into your ear "I love you", on into eternity.
