Darvin ham deserved to lose his job honestly. He is the only coach I’ve ever seen that would wait until the lead is lost- to call a time out. He would never stop another team’s run/streak with a quick time out to interrupt their momentum. A team would come all the way back and take the lead before Darvin considers a timeout. It was that way all season long- including playoffs.
@GreatImmortal916 ай бұрын
He wasn’t a competent coach. People try to make it seem like it was just the players, like these aren’t professionals doing a job. Once he lost the locker room it was a wrap. Year one he had the locker room, year two they said f that lmao
@jedimindtricks57136 ай бұрын
I wasn’t a fan of Coach Ham but stop it.. that is utterly not true.. their’s plenty of times/games where he called a timeout before the other team took the lead 😂 you’re just an ESPN watching narrative spewing casual
@atlien19886 ай бұрын
Then you clearly haven't watched a lot of basketball at all. Phil Jacson was NOTORIOUS for not calling timeouts and allowing players to figure things out on the court on their own. I lost count how many times Ham would draw up a play or talk in the huddle when his two best players would be absolutely tuned out & uninterested in what he was saying. Ham is not above reproach, but given the circumstances dealt, he coached us to WCF and IST during his tenure. Yall are the same lot that praised the Lakers for reaching the WCF and winning the inaugural IST. Why doesn't he get the courtesy of learning on the job just as Redick will receive since he has ZERO coaching experience. Redick's rotations will not be perfect, and neither will his time management, yet Ham was held to standards aimed at PERFECTION.
@atlien19886 ай бұрын
@@GreatImmortal91 so if he wasn't competent, how were the Lakers able to make the WCF last year? How were we able to make strides and win IST this year? Surely, that shows Ham was in fact competent. If he was so incompetent, as you claim, why did we fire Vogel? Was he also incompetent?

The media refuses to acknowledge just how bad Darvin Ham was, especially with timeout-management. He continuously used outdated defensive-schemes, made them double-team almost every possession (which would leave a man open every single time), and sit with his hands in his pockets; stubbornly refusing to adjust his game-plan. An NBA Coach CANNOT be stubborn. Those two things are oxymorons. JJ is on the other side of the spectrum from Ham.

Prior to the All Star break I dubbed this era of NBA basketball the 'Age of the International Center.' This was an acknowledgement of the dominating, winning effect of the best of the best bigs in the NBA: Jokic, Embiid, Antetokounmpo, Gobert, Towns, Sabonis, Markkanen, etc. I did not anticipate that the Boston Celtics- whose premiere players are versatile wings- would end up winning the chip. A deeper dive into the roster of said rival team, however, would reveal that the Celtics are, in fact, at the cutting edge of this era, with a total of 3 internationally born centers on their roster: Kristaps Porzingis (Latvia), Al Horford (Dominican Republic), and Neemias Queeta (Portugal). Much like an imposing offensive line in football, those whose actions have the greatest impact on winning tend to escape notice, instead resigning themselves to heroism of the unsung variety. Doing the dirty work, and allowing your teammates the glory of favor and adulation of the public. Nonetheless, the foundation, the formula, the championship recipe for this year's Celtics team does in fact confirm my observations of where the league is, and the direction it is going. The next two decades of professional basketball will be very much about the giants of the world defying every known principle of physics and human kinesiology to both dazzle and dominate in the sport of basketball. The Age of the International Center is here, and it ain't going nowhere anytime soon.

He can only draw from his playing experience when it comes to experience. Really Good players have a great IQ! BTW the Phil Jackson and Jordon relationship was next level

why didn't Stephen A have the same energy for Steve Nash when he was hired by the Nets and made it about Race? JJ literally got hired after a black man was let go on the job. Fakes

AD will surely respect JJ cause he knows the puppet master is Lebron. Wait until the Lakers start struggling and Lebron reprimands JJ for insubordination. Respect will be out of the window.

We need to make sure that we snip this video, so when halfway through the season they basically are trash and JJ redick we can throw this right back in their face. these guys automatically praising him so much. we know they're going to trash him when things go wrong

Only missed the playoffs once in his career when he played with the Pelicans (Duke South)

On a scale of Darvin Ham to Phil Jackson, I see JJ having a rougher time just like most of Lebron's coaches. Rooting for him though, I hope they run it back with CP3 in a Lakers jersey counseling Bronny

JJ has won me over. Seems knowledgeable and confident. I just hope we add someone like SVG to his staff for his experience.

Playing in the "Modern Nba" is a key factor that isnt being talked about enough.. Darvin Ham played in the nba decades ago same with Mark Jackson etc etc. I really think that'll help JJ Alot
