January 2012, Jokić was hanging out at our mutual friends birthday party. We went outside the bar to get some fresh air and talked about sports and life in general for a bit. It was my first semester at college, and he was still in Sombor playin ball i believe. He was super shy talking about basketball because he had zero actual plans on pursuing it professionaly, he was just "let see one day at a time" and "I would like to make a decent living out of it, at least for a couple of years". I hit him up with couple of "grown up" jokes, laughed for a bit then we went inside again. And now i am watching this. You have NO IDEA how CRAZY is to see Lebron talking this highly of our shy hometown guy 12 years later. It's not even crazy, it's just outwordly SURREAL. And yes, he is as down to earth as he was a decade ago. Just a pure soul.

He is definitely a basketball genius paired with a truly gifted athlete all wrapped up in a world class work ethic. Currently #1 in scoring and #4 in assists and he is averaging more assists/year than Chris Paul now who is #3. And this year he is shooting better from the field than his career average, his career best from 3pt range, better from the line too. That is just insane at 39.

I'd be interested to hear JJ and LeBron's take on "positionless basketball" especially since I've seen LeBron play all 5 positions. Do we need to stop thinking of players as guards, wings, and centers or is there still value in defining roles like that?
@CulEdz8 ай бұрын
If you listen to the whole podcast, they talk about how the casuals (is. all of us) think it’s as easy as 1-5. You don’t expect JJ to defend a 1 when he’s been used to defending 2 all his career. It’s positionless when it’s on offense but if you think an SG can slide easily into defending a PG or a PF can easily defend a C, then you don’t know much about basketball.
