Wow...this is your first time seeing Joker? He is seriously the most interesting player we have seen in decades. No one like him, perhaps ever. If he stays healthy and interested in continuing to play for another 10 years, he may smash all notions of greatness. I love watching him operate.

Muricans love to talk big shit about loving hard-working blue collar "shut up and do your job" kind of guys, but when one actually shows up they immediately think he's too boring. Jok puts up similar - or better - statlines to Giannis, but gets panned by the masses. They love Giannis of course because he mean mugs after a dunk.

Perkins should be dismissed from ESPN for throwing so much shade and hate on Joker....shameful behavior really. Yes he was favorite to win 3rd MVP this season until Perkins played the race card. Joker didn't bat an eye. He could care less. Just wants to win. Like Jordan and Bird.

You're not crazy, he's a modern version of Bird. He even has pretty much the same over the head, nearly unblockable shot! His 2023 postseason stats: 30.0 points 13.5 rebounds 9.5 assists 55/46/80 shooting I'm a fan, and will be following the Nuggets in the future. The team is great, not just Jokic. AG has to be one of the great redemption arks in NBA. We all know his Orlando history so I can't lie that I liked the trade because of his physical skills but it's the way he so quickly changed from his orlando role to a kinda Iguodala that was impressive. From the first game he was the guy who'd do whatever the team needed....the little things. The first 10-15games until Jamal injury the team was simply amazing with AG in that thankless role. Unfortunately we didn't get to see him again in that role until lat season. It's not his fault. The season both Murray and MPJ missed he was Jokic's trusted sidekick, second best player in team having to do way, way more with two offensive stars out. He was very good in that crazy stupid season were every players kept missing games, playing with g leagers . Once the number two and three offensive players came back AG went back to that role he played so well in that brief month before Jamal season ended. Jokic is the brain, Murray is heart/passion, AG is the soul of the team. That's why he's known as Mr Nugget by fans. A title held by Monte Morris and Gary Harris before (two players that get extra love from fans when they come back. Adam Mares tells the story of a video clip of a young teenage Aaron Gordon holding a longboard being interviewed at some tournament he was MVP and he remembers "All I care is about winning. I don't care how much I score or touches I get, I'll do whatever team needs for us to win." 10-14yrs later he did just that to win the title.

Two more epic AG things: - His celebration after the game going into the streets and dancing, singing with the people wearing only his game shorts and flipflops is one of the highlights of 3 separate epic celebrations: after game, parade and Vegas baby for players only (where a hungover Bruce Brown was seen on IGlive blaming his condition on Jokic. Brown for some strange reason thought he could outdrink Jok with his national plum brandy😆) - you need to check out AGs pad in Denver. Big hangar loft with Basketball court, sports cars next to court, gaming room, gym, leather chill couches. Absolutely amazing. There are 2-3 YT videos of the pad: one from some tatoo guy who does tour, another from Bones Hyland (has anyone been so close and totally blown it like he did? Walking out of arena in 4th because only playing 11min isnt the right fight or time when you're on a title contender) showing Nuggets practicing at Gordon's pad. Did I mention I have a Mr Nugget (AG) shirt?😏

Common (and grave) mistake is to take Jokić as unathletic. When he take a ball and start dribble run from one to other side of court, then you realize no player can keep up with him, even small and fast players... And he has the ball, and "fast" player is running free of load. Also, he is big and strong, he actually can body bump anyone in the league without breaking the sweat. The illusion he is slow and inert is there only because he is playing extremely efficient, not making even one unnecessary move than it is needed through all his game, and he get on physical explosions only when team needs it (you saw in this highlights that whole team is working hard so he do not to have to do much physical work, so he could stay fresh whole game, but from time to time team support fails, and then you see the real animal, and he gets pretty scary in that moments, breaking through four defense players with pure power and ending it with a dunk). And add there unhuman stamina, because he can do it in ending of fourth quarter as same as in first quarter playing meanwhile almost 40 minutes of the game, while ball is at his hands almost every attack (so, he is not just standing there that 40 minutes). That is, my brother, supreme and yet unseen athleticism. And yes, it is not his best quality, but the skill and basketball IQ, that will stay with him even in latter years, when physical qualities diminished, guaranteeing him very very long professional carrier.

You just need to look at the stats, Jokic has among the highest miles ran per game in the playoffs and his average speed was the same as any "athletic" player. He only looks slow because he is so gigantic. The reason Jokic doesn't jump is because jumping is easily the riskiest move leading to the most traumas in NBA, especially for big guys. He COULD jump, but he doesn't need to jump so he avoids the risk.

I'm a big Jokic fan... But I think he also has sparked attention on other players IQ, first of all LeBron, even if in the last 20ish years that was a bit eclipsed by his athleticism... I think the strongest thing Jokic does is the "Two Man Game" he plays with Murry, and everyone else. He's so good at it his team has learned to do it well when he's on the bench. With the Bird comparison the biggest difference is I remember Bird playing angrier. Of course at the time some of those rivalries were more like gang fights than today's NBA. Your skilled vs athletic remark is spot on and I never thought about it that way.
@vlada
@vlada Жыл бұрын
Great call. Jok can play the two man game with anyone: Jamychal Green, Austin Rivers but his two man game with Murray is not only the best in league but I'll put up with.... Malone/Stockton. 😉 Heresy right? After all these legends have run the same unstoppable play for two decades. The thing with Murray/Jokic pickn roll is they can play both roles of the pnr equally as well. Murray played center in high school and loves setting picks for his partner which makes these two more interchangeable and effective as any top two man game. The permutations become endless when both can pick, roll, finish, shoot like they can. Also playing 6-7yrs together (did you know they played together as 18yrs olds at a Nike summit? ) has made their chemistry the most ego free you can ever hope for. There is no "I got to get me mine tonight".

Phenomenal reaction! Jokic is the best passer of all time. There are strong arguments that Magic is the best and I respect anyone who has that opinion. In Serbia, passing is the most important basketball skill. Look at the assists of another Serb, Milos Teodosic, who in Durant's opinion made the best assist ever. Magic stated that he took most of his passes from Pistol Pete Maravich, who is also of Serbian descent. By the way, there are much better compilations of Jokic's passes than this one.

THE BEST PICK YOUR POISON PLAYER IN THE NBA. And his game is pretty simple. If he posts up and the defense dont double, he'll go for 50. IF they do t double him, he always finds the open man. It does not matter if the open man is at the wing, standing in the corner, at the top of the key or even cutting to the basket at the speed of light. JOKER WILL FIND HIM EVERY TIME. There is nothing defenses can do and the Nuggets roster is built to maximize his skills. Great team management.

Jokic's athleticism is subtle and harder to spot. He appears to lazily dribble the ball up the floor and then suddenly starts moving much more quickly at some point, usually when he's already crossed the three point line. This change of speed is deliberate, and throws defenders off balance. Other players change speeds too, but Jokic does it in a way that is very deceptive. By the time you've noticed he's changed speeds, he's already shot the ball or passed it to the open man.

Not fast, not athletic ?? Yet somehow he makes perfect passes and decisions in a split second. Nothing stops this man, you double team him with 2 big men, he finds the open man and hits them with a perfect pass leading them right to the basket. Plus his touch around the basket is nothing but amazing, his most awkward looking shots still go in. Oh and his post game is so Kevin McHale, and that's the best I've ever seen.

I love the older larry bird videos, amazing but there for sure similarities between them. Jokic got robbed of 3x MVP, but he did NOT care. He got what he wanted, Playoff MVP and title. Its very close the Larry Bird in that way, he wants to win and forget the trophies. If LeBron is the best player now, why did the Nuggets sweep the Lakers? I think they had a great chance even against the Warriors even though Steph, Klay and others are dangerous....I think it would have went to 7 and Nuggets would win. Just my opinion though, we need more Nikola Jokic videos and there are plenty now, but also respect the oldheads and Larry/Magic.

you haven't even seen the best highlights... there are videos out there - compilations that will blow your socks off... and not just one or two plays - but, literally, hundreds. I see you can appreciate the skill - and Jokic has ALL the skills - he's THE MOST COMPLETE BASKETBALL PLAYER that we've ever seen. Everyone is talking about his "passing" (and it is incredible) scoring, IQ, post game, handle, rebounding... etc etc - but more than anything - Jokic is THE PLAYMAKER. Watch a bit more of him and you'll see - he commands/directs the offense and the defense - he draws plays on the bench, watch it - and I guarantee you - you'll be stunned. Comparison with Larry is a good one - but also, there's some Magic in there, some Hakeem, some Wilt, some Barkley, some CP3... some Pete Maravich... I'm happy to see that more and more US bb fans are going back to truly study the game and appreciate the skills and creativity (and not be bedazzled only by high jumping blockers or such).

If this guy is 6’11” and Larry bird was 6’10” I just will not believe it. Jokic never looks small. Larry looked smaller than lots of contemporaries.

Actually I have only recently gotten into the Joker I am an old lady I'm more an MMA fan rather than basketball other than I love the Legends Larry Bird who I probably seen every clip on😊😊😊 but this young man is so talented and interesting and humble and he reminds me a lot of Larry Legend❤❤❤❤

Your explanation about him aging and not leaning on athleticism is the exact explanation i use when people look at me sideways when i tell them Luka could break brons scoring record one day. Statistically hes the ONLY player in the NBA even on pace! When luka gets older, barring no setbacks, obviously, he should still be good and honestly maybe even MORE efficient!! Im not just spewing bullcrap here, Luka has more total points at his exact age than Bron did when he was that age🤷

He is not fast or quick with straight-line speed. But he actually has good quickness in his hips, arms, shoulders, hands, and abs/serratus/intercostals and makes: quick spin moves, quick twitch passes from every angle where he rapidly twists and contorts hips and or arms making perfect passes, quick arm/hands/and head fakes and movements in the low past and so forth. It is really unusual that he has weak get off and top end speed, but very good quick twitch hips, arms, shoulders, abs and hands. He also has has ultra elite strength and power to physically back down and dominate any player in the league including guys like embid, lebron, giannis and anthony davis.

That is exactly what I have been saying. He can play on this level for 10 more years easily. It is just that je won't do it. 5 more years max and he is done. He said multiple times basketball is not a most important thing in his life. Never was, never will be. He openly said it's his job. So, in my opinion, he will play as long as they pay him big money. Max, Superman, that stuff. After that its bye

Nuggets (Rockets before the name change when ABA...NBA merger) for 54 years. Dig that! I've seen almost all of Joker's games. Right away I said he has the best hands since Bird. Generational, one of a kind talent. It took a few seasons for him to let out the inner scorer, but once he did...and got in better shape so he could move better on defense, he became the absolute stone cold MONSTER that he is. Amen.
