LeBron went absolutely nuts last night against Steph and the Warriors. ANT and Dillon started a beef, and we got some unexpected turn of events in the finals rematch. But we gotta start in LA where Luka Doncic received a standing ovation in his first appearance in front of Lakers nation.
The fans had just gotten comfy in their seats when Jaxson Hayes got them jumping again.
James on the other end, couldn’t be denied. And down by 13 early in the 2nd quarter, Curry misses two easy looking layups triggering an astonishing chain of events.
Oh My Goodness, the greatest scorer of all time continues to amaze the basketball world with 3 heatchecks and the last one being from the logo for a huge 22 point Lakers lead.
Thing is, he didn’t stop creating highlights there… Showtime! LeBron joins his new teammate Luka as the only players in NBA history to have a single half with 20+ PTS, 10+ REB, 5+ AST and 5 - 3 pointers. But after the break, Golden State went on a 26 to 12 run to get within 6 points. Maan, you are never safe with these Warriors, ever since the Curry era started. However, with 2 straight defense to offense possessions, the Lakers finished the period up by double digits. In the final period, Steph exploded from downtown, not letting this spectacle pass without his imprint. The Chef with 19 of his 37 points in crunchtime, brings the Dubs to just 5 points with 3 and a half remaining. But LA had Austin Reaves, and this guy in the clutch.
Bron puts the cherry on top of another vintage performance of 42 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists on 6 of 9 shooting from long range. He joins MJ in the 40 scoring 40 club, and now holds the record for both youngest and oldest player with 40 points in a game. That’s incredible, I’m running out of words here. So at the end, while Draymond was arguing with the refs on the line for a previous 8 second violation, missing the free throw afterwards, James went Bozo mode.
The Lakers got the win, as we’re all waiting for the debut of Luka Doncic on Saturday against the Pacers. Jimmy Butler is also likely to suit up for the Warriors on the road against the Bulls.
The same with Anthony Davis who got to watch his new team face off against Boston in the 2nd finals rematch this season. And a couple of guys who weren’t on the team last year, went off in the 1st half. Dinwiddie with 15 points on 5 of 7 from the field was big off the bench, but wait till you see Captain Klay. Klay Thompson was on fire, 23 points in 15 minutes on 10 of 13 shooting for a stunning 17 point lead by the Mavs. In the 2nd half it was Kyrie Irving along with Max Christie and Naji Marshall off the bench who continued torching the Celtics.
The shorthanded Mavericks annihilated Boston in front of their home fans, leading by as much as 27 in the 4th quarter, behind a monster 57 points combined from the 2nd unit guys.
Dallas evened up the season series at 1 apiece.
Off to Minnesota, where ANT was coming off a monster 49 point game himself, this time facing the struggling Rockets who lost their last 4 games.
And with Edwards balling out at the start of this one as well, tensions started brewing between him and Dillon Brooks. Dillon man, he’s gonna find a scuffle if there is one, but I like how ANT stood up and handled the situation. Anyway, the rookie Terrence Shannon grabbed all the attention at the end of the half because… So with neither team being able to pull away from the other, we were in for a war in the 4th. Resuming with the basketball side of things, it looked like we were going down to the wire. Edwards was trading blow for blow with the Rockets, but bringed out the black magic for this one. Woow, snaking through the defense with the physical ability to withstand the contact and convert the and-1. And after that, there was no stopping him whatsoever.
ANT was a savage in this game. 41 points, 7 boards and 6 dimes, hitting Brooks with the 3 point celly right in his face to let him know who’s who.
The Wolves are on the rise with Anthony’s stellar performance lately, going 7-3 in their last 10. While Houston falls to the 4th spot in the West by dropping their 5th game in a row.
The Kings dropped their first game after the Zach Lavine trade, so they hoped to finally get a win. But Sacramento faced a blazing hot Portland team who are on a roll lately.
Anfernee Simons with 30 and Sharpe with 24 points off the bench led the Blazers to their 6th consecutive win. I’m astounded by this honestly. They’ve won 10 of their last 11, and are just 2 and half games away from the play-in zone, with 7 guys averaging more than 10 points throughout the season. Amazing. And back in LA, the Clippers got to a 5 point lead in the clutch after this 3 by Kawhi Leonard. But what followed, left everyone in the building in shock.
