I will be truly indebted to you for such a masterpiece playlist. I agree to a large extent that I have attended one of very famous Delhi Coaching Sociology giant, Ignou textbooks but the quality which you have provided to my preparation is absolutely incomparable. This comment will make sense to those folks who are REALLY into UPSC preparation and trust me with such a content one can target for 170+ in Paper 1. The only prerequisite is that you have to attend these lectures at least 3 times and then after have a one pager notes containing names of thinkers only. Keep this playlist going and help people like us. Thank you so much and please accept my gratitude because it's you who have given me the required confidence. Thanks.

I found it more difficult to understand non positivist perspective compared to positivist perspective. Maybe because i have been indoctrinated in scientific temperament so positivist method was coming natural to me but every non positivist method is counter intuitive. Hence it's taking probably more time to digest this new perspective.

Are interpertive theories and interactionist theories same? if not, what is the difference?
@kaarwan-e-upsc2 жыл бұрын
Interpretive theories is a broad umbrella term for theories which involve Interpretation.... Symbolic interactionism comes within its purview. Weber- Interpretive Sociology - through Verstehen Symbolic Interactionism also involves interpretation of action of actors involved in an interaction situation through the process of Role-Taking!!

Sir what's the difference between value neutrality and objectivity
@kaarwan-e-upsc Жыл бұрын
I am copy pasting other comment here. Value Neutrality is premised on objectivity.... One can't be value neutral without being objective. Weber talks about Value relevance and modifies the traditional notions of value neutrality prevalent among the positivists. Value neutrality according to positivists is complete absence of values and total reliance on facts. Weber argued that we can't be completely devoid of values in social sciences.... The very choice of topic of research is guided by one's preferences and hence values here are unavoidable.... However, once the topic is selected there should be complete absence of values during conduct of research... Therefore, your teacher is also correct.... That form of value neutrality prescribed by Weber is value relevance..... There is difference in opinion about the concept of value neutrality.... Positivists (which is the original definition) see it as a complete absence of value from social sciences. You are right about unfair critic of Weber by tawney!!
