Don’t want to change your thinking over your teaching behavior - Just one thing: These short pauses (very few seconds) you do while explaining are worth gold! These short pauses gives me a short time to think about what you said. I would wish my teachers in university would do it the same way. Great Video!

wouldn't having different characteristic impedances for each of the TL in a circuit (say a bandpass filter) be problematic?

As long as S-parameter gives you required response. There won’t be any problems. It is expected to provide reasonable match to 50 ohm at both ports.
