On tour, Lecrae opened up to us about not having a strong sense of identity, insecurities, getting into trouble, feeling empty and looking for heroes in a broken world. He takes us through how we need each other and we can't be lone rangers. What manning up looks like, haters, negativity, rights of passage and how nothing in this world fits in your coffin. Behind the scenes...
We received email that Lecrae was available for an interview in less than 24 hours in a tiny town called Moncton New Brunswick, Canada. (Our director had been waiting to tell a sliver of his story since Real Talk in 2004.) He hit up expedia and was on the next flight to meet his hero. Lecrae has been a "digital mentor"since 2004 and his music has helped him through college, starting 2 businesses, getting married and having a family. When he came back from this interview - he wouldn't shut up ;)
For us, Lecrae is not someone to idolize, he's an older brother we all admire and look up to. He's not perfect, but man... he's legit!
