I would have loved to study under her. When I was classically trained, I had someone introduce me to the gift of Daryl Coley, and then there was Lecresia Campbell. Wow! Can I just say that everything about her required the highest technique, breath control, enunciation and articulation, along with an accurate pitch. She got everything right whether it was syncopated rhythms or varied dynamics to make breath life into a song. She was a lark and a master trainer for lyric sopranos. I am so saddened about her passing but she is with our Sweet Jesus who delights at her song singing with the angels.

Just 3 days ago did I learn she’d passed. I tenderly hope she is amazed at the choirs in the high spheres and amazing souls over there as well. God would never save the less for last. So, I truly wish you rejoice in music and light, Ms. Lecresia Campbell...thank you.

Both are high bright sopranos. Battle was a sopranino while campbell is a soprano leggero (right behind sopranino) Note: Sopranino is the highest subtype of soprano (then followed by soprano leggero). In some literature, they viewed as different voice from soprano (their voices sit 3 tones above soprano spinto passaggio-wise).
