The Juvenile justice (care and protection of children) Act, 2000 is the primary legal framework of Juvenile Justice in India. This law brought in compliance of the 1989 UNCRC, repealed the earlier Juvenile Justice Act of 1986 after India signed and ratified the UNCRC in 1992. After the delhi gang rape(16 dec 2012), in 2015 responding to the public sentiments both the houses of parliament amendedthe bill i.e Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015. The bill was approved by President Pranab Mukherjee on 31 Dec 2015
