Hey Deanna - are you aware of any chat groups, apps etc where OFS members can chat, share videos etc and help each other in on-going formation? I have, for example the Signal app, which made me pounder this question. My fraternity is much older and wouldn’t have such things on their phones.

@@Cadpat07 we had someone developing an app like that, but [insert long story here] he burned out and left the Order. I can ask around if the other Third Orders have one…maybe someone will chime in? There is the Franciscan Family Forum, but they limit which orders you can be from. CFP and TOF are both very good with remote members and technology.

@ there is a reason they do not want you taking office for the first three years after Profession…and after that, you can start small, but I would not recommend Vice Minister or Minister. Be on a committee or a counselor.

@@DeannaWillistonOFS Thanks for sharing that! I profess this spring and next summer 2026 is the next election. I am already getting hints i should accept anything that I may be nominated to. I am praying for the graces to say “no I am not ready, i want the next 3 years to grow in my Franciscan spirituality and review these roles first”. Then maybe secretary.

@ yes! Stay strong! I have seen it turn out so badly when someone takes an OFS leadership role too early. It doesn’t matter if you’re a CEO in your day job or what other groups you have led. Take some time to just be a professed member. Sure, be on committees, but take your time to grow in your vocation. -The actual rule is not for two years, but it is highly recommended to wait for three. I understand this is difficult in some fraternities, but better to take the time than to have brothers and sisters lose vocations.
