My 69 year old arse has "tween syndrome"! Not too bad getting it up 8 steps holding the middle. Getting back through the door and down the stairs is much tougher. Working on my technique, lol. I think my motorcycle career comes in handy. You really need to be aware of your surroundings. This thing is the most fun you can have with your clothes on! Thanks Lectric! Be safe everyone!

My biggest gripe is how the key must remain in the battery lock when riding. That's an invitation to the key breaking off in there. Plus, I simply don't use the keys for other ebikes once turning the battery on, and I've already forgotten to bring my XP2.0 key with me for a ride once. I'd like to see future Lectric ebikes change that.

A removable key would be cool. But if it must remain on the bike it’s best to still keep it under the frame instead of on the side. On the side with that key sticking out your asking to break that key off getting off and on the bike or just moving around it or something bumping it. Keep it on the bottom.

My wife and I have two Lectric Step Thru bikes. One is a 1.0 legacy bike and the other is the 2.0 version. Both now have between 500 and 600 miles on them. The Samsung battery on the 2.0 bike consistently out performs the LP battery that came with the 1.0 bike. The controller on both bikes understates the miles ridden by about 15% when compared to Strava GPS measurements. My wife and I have had a lot of fun on these bikes and recommend them to our friends.

Would have no effect since a hill climb is probably far under 20 mph anyway. Our XP 2.0 st bikes put out 48v x 18 a ~ a bit over 1 HP, flat out. 1 horsepower is defined to be lifting 33,000 lbs one foot in one minute. So a 275 lb bike+rider could climb roughly 2 feet every second.

A few caveats before you buy one: 1) It's very heavy - 65 pounds or so. That makes it far less portable than you'd expect from a folding bike. 2) They have an "all sales are final" policy, which means that if you buy it, you're stuck with it. They DO make exceptions, but generally speaking, you can't return it. 3) To be able to pedal it, you'll probably have to put the seat up quite high - so much so that if you come to a stop, you can't just put one of your feet down to stabilize the bike: you're too far off the ground. That can be dangerous.
@cj97413 жыл бұрын
I have a late production 1.0 that came with the 9.6 battery. The battery change may be because of supply, rather than design. My only complaint with the 1.0 is the abrupt power delivery, sounds like 2.0 is smoother. Pierce is right about latching the bike in the folded position, lifting 65 pounds of floppy bike into the car is a chore.

I have the Lectric 2.0 step thru version. Pedals are too rearwards so it puts your knees at an awkward angle and feels like a unicycle. These changes helped remove knee pain. Raised seat as high as I could still stand for proper leg extension. Moved seat as rearwards as possible. (Inch or so). It helps but it still not optimal and the geometry is bit off for comfortable pedaling.

A very comprehensive, unbiased review, and I learned a lot. I live in a very hilly area, with marginal road shoulders, so pedaling to assist would apparently be a must. The smaller battery doesn't make any sense. It might be possible to install a Hayes 180mm rotor up front, with a different brake, for increased stopping power, something I'd consider. Again, well done.

I love the fact he says "You can do some simple math" around 4:10 regarding your speed going uphill. That involves the following: (that I can think of) -Motor quality, health, and temperature -Battery quality, health, temperature, and charge -Tire quality, health, and temperature -Road composition and temperature -Ambient temperature -Humidity -Duration of ride time prior to video starting -Wind resistance and direction -Dynamic hill incline has to be judged from a varying isometric view from a moving drone I wish I found math that simple.
@richardiredale31282 жыл бұрын
Motor power is measured in watts (and not something like "500w"--that's a continuous rating). This bike puts out a maximum of 48v (battery pack) x 18a (controller limit) = 864 watts, or a bit over 1HP, allowing for typical efficiency and for maybe 10 minutes before it would overheat.. Now 1HP = 33,000 lbs lifted 1 foot in one minute. So for a bike+rider weighing 275lb, bike will rise 2 feet per second. It ain't rocket surgery. But you're also correct, motor efficiency varies with speed. Get too slow and efficiency turns to cr@p.

of all the Bikes I'm looking at this is the one I want. However I don't like the fact that the key is just hanging upside down at the bottom of the frame. Why didn't they make the ignition port on top where you don't have to worry so much. Plus who knows if you decide to take it light offloading a large twig or small branch may snag it and eject it out. The only solution I can come up with is put a small magnet on the bottom to catch the key and key ring
@ElectricBikeReport3 жыл бұрын
It was a gripe we had with the original bike too. We were a little sad to see that wasn't changed. FWIW, the odds of the key coming out are small, and this bike won't work without a key so if it did come out the bike would shut off and you wouldn't have to backtrack very far.

Some helpful info to add to your video would be your height and weight so viewers can get an idea of how accurate your results would be for them. If those are 20" tires then I can guess your approximate height at about 5'9" and you're pretty thin so maybe 150 lbs. I am 6'5'' 230 lbs. So your numbers wouldn't be anywhere close to mine. I kind of doubt this bike is big enough for a big tall guy like me or a short fat person who is even heavier than me. That being said, it would have been nice if you had loaded that 75 lbs of max cargo onto the back and then posted those numbers as well. Since they market these bikes as a "one size fits all solution" it would be nice to know how it handles heavier riders which if we're being honest is the majority of who you see on electric bikes. How they downgraded to a smaller capacity battery, and kept the 500watt motor is mind boggling. Even if there were not a couple dozen other similar bikes that are only getting better with each passing day they decide to really only offer a 3” thick tire which is about the only upgrade as it is more of a nimble tire. They clearly should’ve upgraded the motor to a 750 watt, and went with a 14amp battery. How are you going to call something a 2.0 when you kept the same dimensions as the previous year and in some aspects actually lowered the ability of the previous year too?
@richardiredale31282 жыл бұрын
We got a couple of XP 2.0 st bikes for Christmas 2021 and love them. Biggest improvement is the suspension fork, and the fork weight gain partly offset by going with 3" tires, still plenty fat enough for sand and dirt. Motor "wattage" is a joke. It's just a metric that describes the maximum CONTINUOUS power the motor windings can handle. The real criterion is PEAK HP. In the case of the Lectrics, the motor can put out a bit over 1 HP for perhaps 10 minutes. You get the horsepower by multiplying voltage times peak current, which in this instance is 18 amps. 48v x 18a ~ 864 watts, or a bit over 1 HP, given typical motor efficiency. We have a hill nearby that is a tough climb for close to 10 minutes. Bike makes it fine. As for the lithium cells, it would be GREAT to use 3,500 mAh lithium cells (= 14 Ah) instead of the 2,600 mAh cells (10.4 Ah) in our Lectric battery packs. Still, Lectric sells these battery packs for just $300, a real bargain. But I imagine in the future it will be an upgrade.

You mean like a sidecar?

@@ElectricBikeReport No, maybe like a small wheel on kickstand.

A trailer matched to the bike would be an awesome option. All the capability of a cargo bike that is nimble without the trailer.

The reason it didn't do better is because it was still a class 2 since you haven't actually unlocked it it is not going to perform better than the xp 1

This bike was really easy to assemble kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

Anyone here 6' and find riding this bike comfortable? Many folding bikes are designed for shorter folks thnx
@ElectricBikeReport2 жыл бұрын
Our review team is all 6' and up. It's not a deal breaker, but no, it isn't what we'd call ideal for that height either.

Love the bike,battery is shite tbh. Below 10 is a joke for an Ebike. Hope the 3.0 is going for at least 15.
@BN992393 жыл бұрын
Strange that with smaller tires, smaller battery and a stronger max output from the new motor that the bike was not noticeably faster. The bike should be quite lighter. I can't imagine the front hydraulic shocks really added all of that weight back.

Knobbed tires pretty much all perform the same unless you are going from a 4.0 to a 2.0 and lose 15 to 20 lbs. I own 5 bikes so I ride alot. If you put some of your own pedaling into it you may go faster.

To keep up with the competition lectric needs to at least put a 750w motor,larger battery and hydraulic disk brakes on the v3.By the time that happens bikes will have move on 52v battery systems and even 1000w motors.But honestly a 750w motor with a 52v battery instead of a 48 volt will be just fine for most applications.
@ElectricBikeReport3 жыл бұрын
All of that sacrifices the low price point Lectric has seemed to target though. Hard to put all the things on it without shooting up well over $1,000. It will be interesting though to see what the 3.0 brings when it comes out.

The range is a big issue since they advertise 45 miles per charge, ~30% more than what you'll actually get. Not sure I could trust a company that uses false advertising like that.
@ElectricBikeReport2 жыл бұрын
We agree, it's long been a problem that brands post theoretical results vs real-world. To Lectric's credit, they've started posting real world results on their site now.

These are rebranded Chinese bikes you can buy on Alibaba. If you have the time, save yourself 500 bucks and order one from there.
