It’s been awhile since I last watched EBR when Court was doing the reviews. One thing I really appreciate about what you are doing is having a mechanic’s perspective on the bike giving feedback, especially on where he feels changes should be implemented.

Thanks Kelala! We have been trying to keep things as fair as we can and people seem to also agree with you about the mechanics portion, we will definitely keep doing it and we have some content coming in the future with just him sharing some ebike maintenance and 'how-to' style vides for you all. Thanks for sticking around! - Mike

I’m more interested in the Lectric Express 500 since I’m not trying to get hurt and lose control when potholes get in the way! Great video btw! 👍

I hear ya! I'm actually testing that bike this week and the review should be up in another week or so. Keep an eye out and thanks for riding along with us! -Mike

Nice review Mike and Ben! I agree with basically all of it. Here are some smaller intangibles I've found. The pedals are really nice for me, they are stiff and don't flex like the plastic pedals on my old bike, but really thin so they look sharp and premium. They're really built well to put a lot of leg power into a ride and are easily removed and carried for additional security when I lock up. Second are the handles which are very comfortable with wide palm support, and it's always a surprise how nice they feel. Next is the easy availability of battery voltage and watts out on display, I trust no battery bar or even percent meters as there's no telling how they're calibrated, and instead convert based on voltage. Lastly, and this might seem strange, I love how little power is provided at PAS1. I ride primarily for exercise, and my bike trail route is between 36 - 48 mi round trip. On PAS1 anything over 9 mph (easy to achieve even on PAS0) and the limiter kicks in to only 17W (again easily seen on the main screen) to just take the edge off, and then it's available for more juice if speed dips under 9 mph for assists on hills. With this strategy I'm getting ridiculous range of around 250 mi. This won't be how everyone rides as it's mostly an analog bike at this point, but I love that Lectric allows me to get a really good workout in and then easily bump up the PAS to cross busy streets. On the odd throttle, since it's my only bike and I rarely use throttle, it hasn't been an issue. And I get why it's there, if it were on the left it would be hard to throttle and then activate cruise control (-) with one thumb. Of course I haven't used that yet either :) Cheers and safe riding everyone

Thanks for the awesome feedback! ITs always helpful to hear back on real user insights outside of the few weeks we get with each bike. Drop in anytime and give more updates, we love it! - Mike

Thanks! Ben is awesome to have around the shop, he should be an advisor to some bike companies, but, we also don't want to lose him. Appreciate the feedback! - Mike

One thing about the 750w compared to the 500w is that it is significantly louder. Measured 6db louder which is 4x as loud. The 500w peaks at 1100w so is no slouch either. Smaller battery though.

That's a great point and when I was testing this one, I actually hopped on the 500 and it was substantially quieter. It's still peppy too! I'll be posting that review in a week or two so keep an eye out. -Mike

Waiting to see if they offer a black friday deal on this I can't refuse, possibly free second battery. Sounds like Christmas present to myself.

That's a good one! Historically they keep prices about the same, but do tend to offer up some sweet accessories and a spare battery during BF deals. -Mike

Hate those Shimano index (thumb) shifters. Why anyone would choose that over a trigger shifter I have no idea.

@ElectricBikeReview3 ай бұрын
Cant say I disagree, I 'think' Shimano phasing out these shifters fairly soon and we wont see them anymore, so your thoughts are shared with even Shimano themselves. As someone with a greying beard, I can remember when I thought it was cool 🤣 -Mike
@chaxologist20243 ай бұрын
Yup, but the best reason to have a trigger shifter for an e-bike is to give it room for a dedicated thumb regen brake for the motor just like some e-scooters are incorporating! I have one e-scooter myself that has such a thing and is a flawless integration!
@Benjamin_Jehne3 ай бұрын
@@chaxologist2024 That makes nosense at all, as just direct drive motors do regen. In e-bikes they use geared hub drive motors or mid-drive motors that can't do regen. There're just a view bikes with direct drive hub motors out there.
