Joshua is very informative very insightful in details of how God needs to be in pastoral counseling. Counseling can only work with God involved; these teaching most certainly are on track. Mark A Rioux

Thank you Dr. Scott for your lecture. It gives a helpful introduction in what biblical counseling is and what it is not. Sometimes it is not that easy to follow because we don`t have the script but in most cases one can follow your argumentation and thoughts really well. I am still struggling with the question to what extent personality test and models are helpful in biblical counseling. Because these test can help me to know who I am and where I struggle most or why I think how I think, so that I can address the problem more efficient Hopefully the other lectures can give an answer to this question. I am looking forward to study the other lectures as well. Thank you TMS for uploading such a great content for free. God bless you

The anointing of the Holy Spirit teaches us all things. We should know in our knower what to say to everyone in every situation through prayer and Bible meditation. Having said that, I am not against learning what we can to enhance our ministries. That is why I'm interested in checking out this video series. Hypnosis has nothing to do with Christian ministry. I like when I hear that God's word is sufficient. Amen! The authority to minister to everyone is in Christ's local churches rather than in autonomous ministries outside the church. I'm really liking this video. Dr. Scott is speaking right things about what true ministry is about. This video is much better than I was expecting.

Your definition of psychotherapy is rather off the cuff as Frodianpsychology does differentiate itself with an analysis of past issues there are many therapists that find a more compassionate approach more successful. I am a Christian biblical counsellor and have found that there is a pathway of nomenclature that can be correlated with what God teaches and our necessity for accurate dialogue.

Dr. Scott says the Bible says there's no such thing as the subconscious, only the secret desires of the heart, etc..... That's just semantics. You might disagree on the nature of the subconscious, but it's still the same thing. And believers don't go through the same stages of grief as unbelievers? That's nonsense! You don't suddenly stop being human when you come to faith in Christ.

14:40 however, the church is not a building, but rather it is the body of Christ. being superstitious about where counseling is done isn't the answer... it doesn't matter where it is done but how it is done - when someone is seeking christian/biblical/pastoral counseling they need to exercise wisdom and discernment as to whether its biblical or not and hit the road if it is not. counseling done in the church can easily be done wrong and non-biblically, just as it can be done that way in an "autonomous ministry." We mustn't limit what God can do and where He can do it.

Though I agree that the Word deals with sin, I do not believe that Pastoral counseling replaces trained medical treatment for mental and emotional health issues. To think that a Pastoral counselor can treat those types of illnesses is dangerous and irresponsible.
@daniellee11276 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree with the speaker's first premise. Just because its not called "biblical counseling" doesnt mean God is not working in it. My god, medicine werent made using biblical standards but God can certainly use it to heal us. This is frankly dangerous teaching to tell pastors that they can help people with serious psychological issues. The first thing u should tell pastor is what u not equipped to do. U are a pastor but u are no psychologist...

Daniel Lee if you listened to the whole lecture you would understand why you are wrong. Also kinda ironic you blaspheming God while trying to correct on a godly issue.
