Thank you very much for this initiative. I've been thinking about meta-analysis for over two years. I took a course in which I expected to learn what you are teaching, but it was pretty much about the stats. Now I have the opportunity to clarify things up in order to put my meta-analysis ideas on the paper. I am very very grateful, and I am sure many others are too.

This is amazing, thanks for sharing these videos! These have been helpful in trying to develop new systematic processes in work to streamline and reduce human error in our systematic literature reviews.

Hi Marc! I was wondering... which is the advantage of using web of science instead of Scopus? I read several articles which used only Scopus... Could you give us your opinion?

I'm glad you asked this question -- best practices at this point mandate searching multiple databases, so search both to maximize coverage and to help compensate for deficiencies in each. Once merging your search results, don't forget to deduplicate!

Great video! Is there any way to filter out all those studies that don't report SD/SE/Variance in the variable of interest? I am getting too many studies without SD/SE/Variance in my meta analysis.
@LajeunesseLab3 жыл бұрын
You should do the best you can to retrieve these -- since you can't compute effect sizes without them. Without them, they automatically get excluded from the meta-analysis. There are many tricks, I have a book chapter about this, hope it helps: lajeunesse.myweb.usf.edu/papers/Lajeunesse_2013_Chapter_13_Handbook_of_Meta-analysis_in_Ecology_and_Evolution.pdf

@@LajeunesseLab Thank you very much! Your answer was very helpful, and the book chapter you just shared with me is very helpful too. I will keep on with the lectures, they are very interesting, there are no other youtube channels that explain meta-analysis in deph like this one.

That's a very technical topic -- I can't promise anything but I may do a video on how to best approach non-independence issues -- thanks for the idea!

yes unfortunately, all lectures were live streamed and so hick-ups and technical issues are all in the open for everyone to see :-(
