We cannot apply binary search directly in actual disk records because records are not necessarily stored in a contiguous manner in the disk, we use B tree (threaded M way tree) for this. It makes insertion and deletion faster as well.

1.Primary indexing simply meaning using primary key as a search key 2.Secondary indexing simply means using non prime key as a searching key 3.Clustering indexing is based on non primary key and of used when records are grouped Hope i am correct … Little bit i am getting confused by this lecture 😅

at 10:00 dude however you break the blocks in the index table, you can never achieve faster binary search on the whole table... here is the calculation suppose we have n rows and these n rows are to be broken in m blocks then -> each block will have n/m rows now according to your approach, time taken would be log(m) + log(n/m) (first binary search for finding a block, then binary search on the block having n/m rows) i.e., log(m) + log(n/m) = log(m*n/m) = log(n) which is the time taken if you would have just binary searched in the first place. you are doing nothing but introducing constant factors.
