Hello, can you tell me if these are correct speculations: 1. mutation where laci can not bind to DNA: The genes lac z, y & a will continue to produce the proteins which are responsible for metabolizing lactose 2. mutation where laci can not bind to allolactose: The genes will be repressed (kept off) and will not produce any proteins even if there is lactose available. 3. mutation to the operator: The laci can no longer bind to operator, which means the lac operon genes will continue to produce the proteins required to metabolize lactose.

On your summary, did you mean to put "the regulatory 'gene' for the lac operon is LacI" instead of "the regulatory protein for the lac operon is LacI"? Wouldn't the regulatory protein be the repressor(since lacOp is negatively controlled)?
