my is question will always be what about the Route Pattern? is the route pattern different form Translation pattern/ transform pattern?? What exactly scenario will I have to configure the translation/ transform pattern.

It depends on your environment how you wanted to configure, If your environment wanted 4 digits calling then you need to make translation pattern and you configure transformation patterns when you need to change the calling or called number before the system sends it to the phone or the PSTN.
