Can someone please explain how did we get SHF as 0.09. I am pretty lost too !!

Hi if we have SHF negative how we calculate q total
@wangbungal5 жыл бұрын
you find HF of steam at 212 degree F at 1150.5 btu / lb this becomes delta h / delta w ratio of energy to moisture use the protractor it lines up to 0.09 SHF more or less use that slope

Can i calculated the sensible heat from this formula q=mCp(t2-t1). ??? When i calculated i found change in result maybe 6000 difference !!

please explain where is SHF is coming from. it is given in the problem as 0.09, or is calculated somehow. Please explain. thank you.

I could be wrong but it could possibly be that the (h)g for the steam is 1150.7 BTU/lbm. So, that corresponds to SHF.

SHF or SHR is determined by finding the change of enthalpy over the change in humidity ratio (w), that change is the outside of the SHR chart measurements and then you can read what the SHR is

If X is an unknown spot on the psychrometric chart, how can you find ix1?
@uiucindoorenvironmentalcon32488 жыл бұрын
Excellent question! It depends on the details that you know. If you know your ending point (ie. target temperature and one other property, as in the example here) and your sensible heating factor (SHF), then you can draw the line from the endpoint to the intersection with the sensible heating line. This is your X1, and you can find all properties associated with this point. If you know the SHF and want to determine the ending point, then you need some additional information, such as the amount of sensible heating applied, in order to determine where to place the line. The slope of the line is determined by the SHF in either case.

Sorry, but I don't see how that answers the question Anthony asked; well, to give a more helpful answer to the question, @Anthony, you will have to find enthalpy of the vapor to be added at the temperature given (in this particular example 212F, from any standard table and use that value (in this example 1150.4 Btu/lb of vapor) on the small protractor and add the origin and that BTU value. That generates the ref. line within the protractor; now draw a parallel line on the P-h chart through state 2. Now you have your point "x". Hope this helps. TC

Ok. I'm kind of stuck. If we have the 1150.4 value, then are we supposed to use the bottom scale of the protractor? Based on where she marked it, it looks like 1190 btu and 1150 btu on the protractor looks like around 0.03 vs 0.09? There's something i'm not understanding. Please help.
