For constant heat flux 1) Tm varies linearly along the pipe but Tw varies linearly only in fully developed region 2) Difference between Tm and Tw remains constant in fully developed region Constant wall temperature 1) Tm varies exponentially 2)To calculate Q consider it as a Parralel heat exchanger with Tw and Tmi as inlet and Tw and Tmo as exit temperature. Area should be considered as 3.14DL.

I usually get confused between temperature and heat flux , some one please explain in simple terms. Thanks by definition flux is heat transfer per unit area per unit time but that didn't make sense , please come up with practical example.

Temperature is the intensity of heat present at that time at that location. While the heat flux exists when there is heat transfer. By definition in thermodynamics Temperature is expressed as the inverse of the rate of change of entropy with constant volume of system, internal energy and number of particles in system.

Temperature can be related to potential energy in mechanics and heat flux can be related to work in mechanics. The higher the potential energy, the more work can be extracted from it. The higher the temperature, the more heat flux can be generated. Thus, temperature is the potential for heat to flow. The more the temperature, the more is the heat flux.
