Transfer operations and tundish metallurgy are discussed in this lecture. The role of a modern day tundish is highlighted and in that context different tundish designs , flow control devices, mean residence time etc. are elaborated. The issue of inclusion floatation and tundish nozzle blockage are also mentioned briefly.
