I enjoy this more than a movie. Prof. Balakrishnan is GOD LEVEL.

excellent teacher. Better than MIT courseware. I wish I had teachers like him in my higher education. He is not using any paper or notes. Amazing!

Wow looking at the square well in the momentum basis was very enlightening! These lectures offer a lot more depth than any professor I know, it sure is better than reading Griffiths too.

He is definitely without ''uncertainty principle'' the best teacher I have ever encountered, he even notice the space topology itself, which is the underlining assumption we all take for granted, and ask the influence of the topology on the restrained condition!!!

Lecture 09: The particle in a Box ( 1D, 2D, finite well, delta potential)
@tanmaysingal05 жыл бұрын
There's no delta-potential in this one.
@nickpreetic46703 жыл бұрын
@@tanmaysingal0 yes there is, particle in a box is given by a delta potential at either end of the box to prevent its escape
@tanmaysingal03 жыл бұрын
@@nickpreetic4670 a delta-function still allows escape. What you mean is an infinite barrier to either side of positive potential energy. That isn't a delta function.

Lol thats basically the delta potential. Stop yapping pa*j**t@@tanmaysingal0

What a wonderful, wonderful lecture! Thank you Prof Balakrishnan, It was a delight watching your lectures in Quantum Mechanics

the insight of why all the eigenstates of the hamiltonian are not eigenstates of the momentum operator was shattering! and it was especially delightful because i guessed the answer as prof b was pushing hard to get the answer from the students in the class "somewhere in there i made a statement that is not correct. what is it?" this is what effective pedagogy is. prof b is what they call a rishi or a sage in india.

There is no degeneracy in one dimensional problem provided the underlying space is simply connected, the circle is not simply connected. So particle in a one dimensional ring has degeneracy and it is actually doubly degenerated… very nice

i dont know if shankar is inspired from balakrishnan or its the other way round .. but both of them approach the subject efficiently and in a similar manner ..

So Balakrishnan's course is based off the Principal's of QM book by R. Shankur from Yale or are you referring to a different Shankur. I've always wondered this, and where did you hear this if you don't mind.
@gouranggehlot48964 жыл бұрын
It looks like that but the treatment of shankar is not as abstract as Balakrishnan and there are certain things you get in his lectures which aren't in the book and vice versa.
