Great video. Many of your videos fill a gap between basic university courses and scientific papers on EM topics and the visuals are quite motivating. This is very much needed I think. In this video you focus a bit on the complexity of dielectric and magnetic metamaterials, but if you add active current sources which are controlled by field measurements elsewhere, then the situation becomes a bit easier at least up to microwave frequencies. You may want to add some point on this. Inverse scattering is another great subject, which you may also want to cover a bit one day, and it has quite a few applications. I think cloaking remains a bit SciFi-ish in the coming 50 years. On the other hand, the possibility of cloaking-configurations may help understand non-uniqueness issues of inverse scattering solutions. ;-) (As a side note my background is PhD in electromagnetics/inverse scattering from TUDelft in the Netherlands)

Hello Netherlands! Thank you for the feedback! While cloaking is somewhat unpopular in the research community right now, it seems to be what excites the students the most and it still teaches the method. I love your suggestions. I have a long list of things I would like to add or improve. I could retire yesterday and be busy for the rest of my life! ha ha

Im just a lowly electronics engineer.. Can someone tell me in plain english the practical applications of this? I'm thinking along the lines of spacetime cloak but im having difficulty thinking of it in laymen terms.

Again,Thanks! You are making these thing look almost easy! About a month ago a wanted to read a book about metamaterilas, and TO came up and I searched for its meaning for a day, then the form invariance of Maxwells eq. came up, and I was kinda lost. (Upcoming video for me in your playlist, but I guess it wont be harder) then hard matrix math came in the book and I was like: (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ You may expect my questions and ideas in the near future, when I finish this playlist :D I want to start my master degree next year and i want to design a metamaterial antenna, if I am capable doing so. I have finnaly access to FEKO software, so my knowledge is what stoping me. (I also want to build it)

If you can tie your shoelaces, you can understand metamaterials and design devices with them. There are lots of weird concepts and people love to make things sound complicated. That can be intimidating, but we all go through it. Don't let yourself ever think that we all understood this stuff the first time it was ever explained. It is a struggle for everyone. Have fun with it and don't let it intimidate you. Just stay at it. There are only two types of people out there, those that struggle learning EM and metamaterials and those that lie about struggling learning EM and metamaterials! ha ha
