Sublimation is a type of phase transition in chemistry where the matter goes from solid to gas without passing through a liquid state. Think of dry ice. That’s what your student was referring to, although vaporization refers to a liquid passing into a gaseous state. Very useful information for you I’m sure! Love these lectures.
