Thank you so much for making these public! Such an amazing opportunity. Such a selfless act when you could be selfish and make them private unless someone has paid $900 for your class through a university lol

It's a wonderful journey to go through Renaissance art with you. It is such a HUGH topic. I have several books and watched many videos, but I am always lost and could not grasp the essence of it. Now having you making it into several long lectures, now I have a much overall picture of what is it. And I like you mention the nude paintings and tried to explain them. I always wonder why are there so many nudes painting especially of women. The paintings you selected are excellent to illustrate your points.

Loved that mini rant about how paintings should look like paintings. 100% agreed. Amazing lecture!

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you for sharing these lectures -- they're great. Something I would say though, is that if we're happy highlighting the (red blooded) eroticism in the Venetian Renaissance, we should equally be happy talking about the homoeroticism in the Florentine Renaissance. To Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo part of the appeal of the classical world was the acceptance of male homosexuality and the appreciation of the male form in art. Whichever way you cut it Michelangelo was obsessed with male beauty and the portrayal of it; Donatello's David is Ru Paul levels of camp. There is good evidence to suggest that, in all probability, all three were gay. An inconvenient truth if one of them... I don't know... painted lots of male nudes in your private chapel where you like to lock yourself for days on end. But it's also a salient truth and one that's relevant to understanding their work. Let's not keep airbrushing history through omission.

Wow. Sad to hear that. In my imagination people are skating on the frozen canals because that's what you see in art from centuries ago. And people say climate change isn't real.

A "major" "carnivore" ... A strange thing to be proud about, and a peculiar way to say it. I see no utility in gushing about my enjoyment of women or ice cream.
