Great Video. I myself, was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus in 1968 at the very young age 11 days old when the shunt surgery was in it's infancy. I have had many, many shunt surgeries thoughtout my 55 years of life, my latest being this past July. The shunt surgery has saved my life many times.

Yes, i am fully recovered from my last surgery however, my hair hasn't grown to my desired length yet. Also, I'm not a fan of the new programable shunts, I had many side effects after the surgery such as the intense dizziness which I am not used to, the nonprogramable shunts are tried and true shunts. I think the programmable shunts were developed for doctors who don't want to do shunt surgeries in the middle of the night.

@video198712 HI, I was born with Hydrocephalus myself, but they didn't figure it out for six months and my head was enlarged and eyes sunset and I couldn't hold down fluid. My first surgery was at six months,a year and a half,to lengthen it then nothing till 20 years old.I woke up one day at fourty three and my vision was blurry but I went on like that for five days waiting for a CT scan then fell asleep for two more days waiting,I know now to go straight to U of M ER.not to wait for a CT scan appt.they put in a programmable shunt then. Then a year and a half latter the same thing happened with blurry vision and they had to replace my shunt again with another programmable shunt.Well after that surgery , I thought it seemed like there was a bump sticking out and that's where they said they adjusted it, 10 years later, after an M.R.I for something else, being in a machine that is lower Strength so the shunt isn't pulled out of your head I went up to have it reprogramed and they noticed it was sticking out of my head and had been that way for quit a while so they wanted to admit me right away but the nuro floors where full so they let me go home till the next Tuesday when I seen a neurologist they wanted to admit me and said I probably needed to be on antibiotics for a couple of days before surgery so after walking around the hospital all day waiting for a bed to open I was admitted at 7:30 that night. The next day they took some cerebral spinal fluid from my shunt to check and see if it had any infection in it and had to be treated with antibiotics before surgery, there wasn't any so they were going to do surgery on that Thursday They even had me in the pre. Op area waiting, but they couldn't get a general surgeon to do the installation of the tubing in the stomach. So I had to have it canceled and wait until 7:30am the next morning. And they installed a non programmable shunt in my head and I am hoping that it is programmed to the right settings, so I don't have to have this operation again. That was November 8th of 24. They said they even shaved some of my skull off so that the tubing would fit down in there better so there wasn't a lump in my head sticking out of my head so much, I am 6 days pre opp right now, so I'm still waiting to see the Doctor and see what they say.I hope to never need this operation again.
