Led by Aoba Herd Climbs Moss Covered Hill To See and Smell for More Information About Their World

Aoba leads the way up the mossy hill followed by Whip, the largest capybara in the herd who squeezes under the fence, and Nadeshiko and the others. In the video Donut, lowest on the hill, is joined by Butter who follows Donut everywhere and wants to be with him. The capybaras always used to climb that hill in years gone by, but these days the younger capybaras do not move around very much and there is real concern that they are not getting enough exercise. The rocky hill is covered in moss and can be very slippery. This sometimes worries me with older capybaras. Donguri often slipped and my heart would stop in case she had injured herself.

Yes capybaras are very thoughtful and often stop to think for a long time before deciding on a course of action. They are very alert to everything which goes on in their enclosure and the surrounding areas
