led's are polarized unlike incandescent bulbs so they have to be installed with the positive and negative connected to the correct terminals to work.

Carl Belcher, Correct. A diode by simple definition is a one-way electrical check valve. Current flow only goes one way.

I have been running leds in my cars headlights for a year now and I love how they look. When I first installed them I was just as impressed and excited as you were in the video but instead of telling it to 700k ppl I was just telling it to my wife.

Mike Skidmore LEDs make minimal heat. And it was the heat on halogens and incandescent that made them break if the oil from your hands was on them.

Jake, they way I installed mine is by removing the plate from the LED, installed it in the housing, put back the rubber thing and then I was able to slide the LED back in the housing.

Another great video. LED's and other diodes only flow current in one direction. Thats why socket orientation matters with those bulbs.

I did LED headlights and fog lights on my truck a few month ago. I had the same thing when you say you don't see a BIG difference in the low/high beam. I could drive at night with just fog lights if I wanted!!

The orientation of the LED running light bulbs does matter because, unlike the old incandescent bulbs, LEDs are directional, being diodes. They only let current in one way.

Hey, I've been using a similar led light for about 5 months , and I've been blocking about the same area of the fan exhaust with the rubber dust cover, everything is fine, those lights are awesome

Do cars coming the other way have any issue with how bright the low beam is? I used to get flashed by oncoming cars as they didn't think I dipped the beam.

Ugh now I'm gonna have to get this awesome headlight as well, I have the same problem with the high low beam. When turning, the light is at weird angle and you can't see too much of what's right in front of you. Glad I don't have to waste time looking for something that fits:)

On my XJ6 it's the same way. The way I did it was I took the clip off, put that where the bulb is meant to go, then put the rubber boot back on. Then I push the bulb through the boot and tighten it.

Love all your vids. I don't know if anyone else mentioned this - you can take that flange off the new LED bulb, put it in place, clip the wire clip into place, and then insert and twist the new bulb in there.

For those who comment about the high level of brightness this light bulb has, I would like to tell that It's no big deal to get blinded by a bike. It is a bike! Cars have more lights than bikes do..they have one light so go big! It's better for their safety..so when i see a biker on the road even with the high beam on i don't complain.. better blind me for a sec, rather than an injury because he didn't see any danger comming

May have already been mentioned but if you put the h4 adapter in the headlight first clip it on then just put the bulb with the boot on in and twist to lock it in. I assume jake didn't have the room to do this but worth trying as saves alot of hassle imo. Great upgrade though none the less.

the reason the running led works one way and not the other is because leds are diodes.. essentially one way valves for electricity so on the old bulb it probably doesn't matter, but with the led the direct current will only flow in one direction.

Halogen/incandescent reflector designed for a central point light source and now you've got LED which light originates in several points that shine in different patters in that housing designed for incandescent. It's going to dazzle drivers. LED should be inside a projector beam housing.

I would like to know if these led lights blinds drivers on the opposide side of the road? The opposing or meeting if you will... Atleast if they are blinding more than the stock one. I thought the light beam picture would be the same as the stock one but I dont know.

I have a first gen FZ-07 and every one I ride complain that my head lights are too bright lol. I got it used with 1200 miles so idk if the first owner put in a brighter light of if it comes super bright stock

Tried to buy the same lights for my 1997 Honda magna it uses an h4 bulb also followed the link to Amazon and found out that they only have h7 bulbs but no h4 didn't realize this until after I had purchased them

Jake cyclops adventure sports has a 7000 lumen LED bulb that is BRIGHT. Those appear to be 3k lumens, I'm very happy but they are pretty expensive.

you should put the black metal piece (the one you remove to put the dust cover on the bulb) first on the reflector and then ¨screw in¨ the LED bulb with the dust cover

Separate the bulb and plate. You put the round plate piece in first, then install led bulb. Makes it way easier

Awesome Video Jake! Wish it could still be "Bolt SHIT on series" anyway the running light will only work one way because LEDs are polarized if the positive and negative are backwards it wont work.

Jake led bulbs have a certain polarity, that's why with the wedge bulbs they have to go in a certain way to work. Halogen bulbs don't have a polarity

rodrigo2w Not sure what you mean by reactor but LEDs have less current draw therefore they are easier on your stator and will if anything extend its life (Electronic Engineer)

Not sure what a reactor is either (flux capacitor?) The light itself draws less power but now you're powering a cooling fan as well. I would guess the draw is equal or slightly greater than the original setup

Jake check out oEdRo LEDs. I like them because they do NOT have a fan (they just use a heat sink and modulate power depending on airflow/temp), they give you a real nice cutoff and a great beam pattern. Auxbeam is good shtuff though too. Great video!

I have these LED's on both my bikes, (Suzuki Bandit 650, Husqvarna TE449), neither have failed yet, had the same thing as you with the lowbeam being awesome and the highbeam is basically a slightly better lowbeam.

I added side and top case luggage on my FZ-07 then the high beam was too high .. since I am really short I lowered the Fork tubes 1" Just the same when you turn the high beam on you loose that in front fo the bike light .. The stock head light seems very weak for some one with 57 year old eyes.. I will copy what you did for sure..

I found with my LED headlight, it made a great flood of light, but basically no penetration. (Just the tip) i could see a street sign a mile away, but couldnt see the road. Phillips makes a (expensive) DOT apporved LED that maintains a shroud on the low beam so the lights behave exactly as factory.

Jake all L.E.D lights matter what way there plugged in L.E.D stands for light emitting diode, that's the reason it matters .

The reason the running light only runs in one direction is because it's a diode (LED = light emitting diode), and diodes only allow electricity to flow in one direction. They are used in rectifying circuits, which convert alternating current to direct current. Your bike has a regulator/rectifier which takes the higher voltage AC power from your stator (alternator) and converts it to 12V DC. The regulator regulates the voltage. TL;DR: diodes only allow electricity to flow in one direction, hence the running light only works installed in one direction.

Have you thought about adding a steering damper to the FZ07? I have been thinking of trying one of the "eBay" ones. I've noticed you put your wheelies down just like I do with the wheel slightly to the left or the right. The Chinese steering dampener's might not work that well but if it helps with a tank slapper it's money well spent
