Fantastic! i have custom light buckets for some cars, and have found light buckets that work with cars they weren't made for. But I have never made my own and also I never knew just why I had been keeping a shoebox stuffed full of FOAM untill now!!! 😆 This made it to the top of my projects list! Thank you!!!!

Great stuff here. I had not ever thought about foam and shinning the light through the stickers themselves like you did. That's really good. On my wife's Cherokee I built all her's out of styrene. Took a lot of work to make them just the right shape. I have lots of that foam so in the future I will for sure think about trying that on some other builds. I do like those chrome inserts too. They are great to use. Axial's kits have some black screw in ones that I've found in several kits and rtr's. At first I had no idea what they were for until after I got some chrome ones. Then it clicked. lol.. Great job on this. You have a lot of info here that is really useful. Thumbs up!

Just a quick question can you use hot glue from a hot glue gun to glue hold your lights in place?
@4WheelRCUK Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes you can and I have. Just be careful how hot your glue gun gets... I'd advise testing on some spare lexan etc. first.
@MustangVR Жыл бұрын
@@4WheelRCUK I think I might use the glue on my hardbody although I will definitely be careful and thanks.

Hello 4WheelRCUK, My name is Carlos Rojas. I tell you that I have an RC traxxas Ford Raptor 1/10 scale 2wd slash, and I want to install that led light bar, in addition to installing the front and rear lights to my truck. Which ones can you recommend?, My RC truck has only 3Ch model 6519 KA1867-R01 receiver. Ch1 Ch1 Ch3 Ch3. If I buy the led bar and the front and rear lights through amazon, can I connect them to my receiver? , Or should I change my receiver and change the remote control.? Excelent Video.
@4WheelRCUK3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carlos, if you have a spare channel on you receiver then you can use it to turn some lights on your model on/off. I cannot say if what you are looking at on Amazon will work fo you, but do recommend you look at the LED controllers from 'HeyOK Performance', this is a small company in California that specialises in solutions for RC models, scale trucks especially. There are options controlled from that spare channel on your receiver, or ones that have their own hand-held remote. Have a look here: www.heyokperformance.com/Lighting_Items/cat1742583_1588137.aspx

Anyone knows how the "hard foam" from 13:17 is actually called? I found one in case for airbrush, but its not much for what I need....
@4WheelRCUK3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the "hard foam" is called "closed cell foam".

When you wire the LEDs is there different ways of doing it. The reason i'm asking is that some run from the receiver and others from the main battery or a separate battery. Also what was the shocks you was running on the SCX10 .
@4WheelRCUK8 жыл бұрын
+Basildon Trail Blazing Buddies 1) "When you wire the LEDs is there different ways of doing it.": Oh yes! way too many to cover here. But in short, my preferred method these days is a separate BEC (connected to the main LiPo in the model) outputting 6V - I then use this for all lighting, by putting resistors in-line with LEDs (I wire my own). Take a look here for an example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJa3aKRugdebr68 (have a look in it's video description for information). 2) "what was the shocks you was running on the SCX10": They are GMade 'G-Transistion shocks' (1/10th scale version), mounted 'upside down', so the weight it lower/you never have problems with oil weeping out. I love these so much and have them on 3 rigs now - You have internal springs above & below the piston so can control the mount of droop & travel really well. Hth :-)

Thanks for that , Electrics are not my strong point when it comes to cars. But I will have to try at sometime to do some.

bit of a dumb question but im about to being building my first rc body and i bought the yokomo light buckets like you showed (is for the same yokomo body as im building) but im stuck for the rear i want the light to have a red and orange realistic look, im thinking about just using the sticker on top.
@4WheelRCUK8 жыл бұрын
Hi 2j, you said "want the light to have a red and orange realistic look": You could still do this with a DIY foam light bucket, but for best results you should use red and orange LEDs and have separate cut out sections in the foam to keep the light from the red and orange LEDs apart - These should then shine through the sticker okay. Good luck :-)

@4WheelRCUK2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ricky, you could try removing the paint where you want to use a light bucket. Done at your own risk of course and I'd recommend testing whatever chemical you choose on a small, less seen part of the body. Here are some ideas: www.rctech.net/forum/painting-designs-graphics-photography/163529-how-remove-paint-lexan-bodies.html

Hi Normandy, I use 'closed cell' foam for the light buckets, so water is not a problem. But if you only have scraps of open cell foam, you could seal it with Plastidip, Shoe Goo etc.
