I'll never forget looking in the rearview mirror as 3 of my boys started crying, even though we had only listened to just the beginning. I had to turn it off and explain I would never leave them. It isn't until you hear the song, but you realize, he doesn't want to leave. He knows he has to, but he doesn't want to. The vocalization really helps understand what's going on with the inner struggle between having to, but not wanting to. But it's those drums and that coordination, that really makes us feel the anger and anxiety decision like that takes to make. It's a very powerful feeling that they have tapped into. When the listener realize it's an experience or an emotion, they can relate to. It will leave you speechless, at first. The thing about Zeppelin is. It doesn't accidentally hit you in your soul. It was designed to do that. As musicians, it is our job, to arrange music and words to elicit a specific response. And nobody, does that better, then Led Zeppelin.
@richardryley366023 күн бұрын
Like Kiss's "Beth" I always assumed it was about Robert Plant having to go on the road with the band. The end of the song is the payoff, where he says that one day he won't have to do this any more and can come home to stay. I'm not sure who wrote the song, but Plant was certainly able to give it the right feeling.

Imagine! Their first album and every song a masterpiece! I'm so glad to have lived during the time when music was ALIVE and BRILLIANT and so full of talent that we just considered it the norm! LONG LIVE REAL MUSIC!!!

This is actually a cover of a folk song. I think the rock and folk elements mix so well. Listen to the words, they tell a story of a conflicted lover who can’t quite decide what to do, or at least feels some guilt about leaving. All the members of L.Z. are at the top of their game here
