@@fredtello Not better. It's mellower and one of their most beautiful songs. If you like mellow then you will like that better. If you like a funky fast paced groove, you will like "Trampled" better. "10" is a very good song but "Trampled" is a classic. Trampled is based on an old Robert Johnson blues song about a car and comparing a woman to car parts. The Robert Johnson song is called Taripin Blues

Zeppelin created amazing soundscapes. Their credos are "light and shade", "tight but loose", and "whisper to the thunder". Listen to more of their music and you will see this is so. I sincerely recommend you do their entire catalogue because you'll be able to follow their musical maturity and the variety is sure to keep you interested. I hope you seriously consider doing this.

At live shows, they would play Dazed and Confused for 30 or 35 minutes, mostly composed of improvization. The guitarist, Jimmy Page, is playing the guitar in the middle section of this song with a cello bow.

I had to laugh when you said not much going on there. Jake Homes actually wrote Dazed and Confused and recorded it 1967. The same year The Yardbirds which Jimmy Page (the guitarist) was a part of before Led Zeppelin took it and had success with the song, Jimmy add to it with using a bow in the breakdown he is like a mad scientist. When Yardbirds broke up Jimmy Page assemble a new band that morphed into Led Zeppelin they took the song and add new lyrics and more drums, more darker sound and forevermore will always be Led Zeppelin song.
@aafjeyakubu51244 жыл бұрын
I know Holmes has been granted credit for this song, but his original version of this song is barely a shadow of what Zeppelin's version is. I mean no disrespect to Mr. Holmes. I couldn't imagine where Zeppelin would be without this song in the early repertoire.

I think you should start with their first album (Led Zeppelin I) and go through their whole catalogue of songs. You’ll probably find that their first album is the bluesiest overall, but they have at least a couple of blues-based songs on all of their albums. You’ll also notice that they really branch out into different genres in their later albums.

Mr. Zac, thank you for reacting to Led Zeppelin, especially Dazed and Confused. I appreciate your honest and detailed comments to all of the songs you have reacted to. As someone who started listening to them when they released their first album in 1969 as a 14-year-old, I was able to follow their career album by album and I wish you could do the same, but I couild see where it would be tempting to move ahead and sample what they would evolve to in later albums. Anyway, however you decide to react to their songs, a couple absolute must listen to include: Friends, Gallows Poke, Tangerine and That's the Way from their third album; Battle of Evermore and When the Levee Breaks from their fourth album; Song Remains the Same, No Quarter and the Rain Song from Houses of the Holy; and In the Light and Ten Years Gone from Physical Graffiti. Thanks again keep up the good work.

To me and many others you need to do Zeppelin Live for the full effect. I would suggest any song from the 1973 concert from Madison Square Garden first. That concert is near perfection and Zeppelin at their finest. The 75 concert at Earls Court is very good too. The 79 concert from Knebworth is a bit spotty. The sound is just off on many of the songs from that concert. The stuff before the 73 concert is pretty good too but not as good as the 73 and 75 concerts. Their live performances is what made them legendary. Page the guitarists and Plant the singer but more Page often greatly expanded the songs in the live version with improvised riffs. "Dazed" is from their first album that came out in 1969. Their first 3 albums had a much more bluesy vibe than the rest of them.

Ooooh, can't wait to see your reaction to this one! Sometimes instead of intellectualizing the lyrics, it's better to just feel the music. How the music makes you feel is what it's all about! The universal language doesn't require lyrics. Jimmy plays guitar with a cello bow on this, and Bonzo's drum rolls are incredible! The song actually pre-dates Led Zeppelin. Jimmy started doing this song with the bow when he was still with The Yardbirds, and it's the first song that the members of Zep jammed on together.
@genov93744 жыл бұрын
Great reaction in that you heard the intricacies. Please listen again and notice that after the singing stops, the guitar and the singer echo each other and on the off beat the drums and the bass echo each other. Then at the end of the song the guitar and the drums echo each other for a bit before the singer and guitar return to echo each other. One of the best songs ever. It's from my high school days. Thanks for the upload.

Hi Zak, Born in 1955 I remember when I first heard album. I still believe it is their best. They are GOAT of rock/blues , not even close. A different plane lol. You should see it live then you'll see how he makes all those sounds with a violin bow
@rleigh12233 жыл бұрын
There sounds were made with their instruments at that time there were few sound effects for guitars. That raspy sound was made drawing a violin bow over the strings, the feedback was controlled by both the position and angle of the guitar speakers. That technique they learned from Jimi Hendrix. The whorling sound on the guitar we wired it into a Hammond B3 speaker and turned it on high. No synths Moog was still in an experimental stage so even keyboards some of the sounds were to how we rewired them to combine two or three sound chambers together from different manufacturers triggered by one key to give three different sounds. There weren't at time of this concert drum triggers to do a lot but Bonzo could play the heck out of garbage cans. It was all on the miking to get his sound. If you look at the videos of his drum kit the bass drum is the largest used back then. Then all the heavy rock bands copied him. Robert Plants voice was so strong he blew out a lot of mikes always had to have six or more on hand to switch out fast. Again no beats, no backing tracks then you couldn't use prerecorded tapes without getting sued by musician unions. No synthesizers. Just hard ass playing and knowing your instrument. It was fun great time to innovate both on the musician level and as a roadie.

Please react to: *Jeff Buckley - Grace (BBC Late Show)* Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin are massive fans of his, and Jeff’s biggest musical influence was, coincidentally, Led Zeppelin. You’ll probably need to pause the video a couple of times in order to bypass copyright infringement. With respect to Led Zeppelin, and other artists, I’d recommend using official audio links from a given artist’s KZbin channel; that way you’ll get the best quality sound. Fan made videos, such as this, have diminished audio/visual content. Cheers. God bless. P.S. Check out the studio versions of *Achilles Last Stand* And *In My Time Of Dying* by Led Zeppelin. The former is Jimmy Page’s magnum opus and his favourite Led Zeppelin song. Both songs are blistering and feature John Bonham’s greatest drumming.
