The rhythmic timing of this song is just insane. No band nowadays would have the balls to compose such a song, nevermind performing it live in concert.

Fuck. This is like a sonic assault. Imagine, what the crowd must be going through. they must have been on fire man. In fact, that small pause, when the song finishes, almost like the crowds took a gasp before they start to clap. Amazing. The greatest band ever.

What a treat for the audience, such a powerful song and not one they played live as a rule because they said it was too hard. I thought that sounded awesome. One of my most favorite Zeppelin tunes to play on guitar. It's a very satisfying song to play. Zep 4 was my introduction to this band and Jimmy Page at the tender age of 9 when it came out and an older upstairs neighbor played the album for me and it was a magical life changing event. Living in trauma and sadness with the recent demise of the Beatles it felt like everything good music wise had died for me. The Beatles really made me want to play music, and then Zeppelin came into my life and made it happen 👍

In 1973, they're in Scotland and Plant and Bonzo got a car failure so the decided to take ask help walking in a open cold windy riad ... later, during the gig, Plant got fever and lost his voice, serious throat problems. From this time on, he's voice was never the same again, even to talk. All next gigs and albums Jimmy + Jonesy re adapted the tunes for Robert's new reality.

This is unbelievably good!!!!! It has a crazy time signature in this song, you can hear stuff like this with bands like Sepultura: a kind of futuristic heavy tribal music... Jimmy page has got alot to answer for, many, many bands were allowed in because of the doors Led Zep opened.

Never be another band at that time, 60s, 70s that changed culture like them, maybe the biggest impacts with, Elvis, Beatles, Ali, Elton John..etc I first listened to Zep when I was 13-14, 1974-75, I'm 60 now, and still jam the Zep occasionally. I've come to appreciate other songs more than Stairway to Heaven,, I appreciate songs like Ten Years Gone, Achilles last stand, Presence..etc even more now.

Anyways, Zeppelin DID NOT play ANY gigs in June '71. They played 2 more after this gig (MAY 4TH - Odensen; MAY 10TH Liverpool) Then they were OFF until the MILAN ITALY gig on JULY 5TH (their ONLY show in JULY) where the infamous Vigorelli Velodrome RIOT broke out ! (next gigs were in MONTREUX, AUG 7&8th)

@nelsano3 Alternating time signatures of 5/8 and 6/8. He got the riff from Pakastani street musicians in around 69 or 70, there is a recording of that session where flute plays the main thematic riff, that and all the chaos of these musicians going back and forth in their native tongue! Also from that session: Friends.
