2:05 onwards is just spot on Bro! You even nailed Jimmy's little note "stumbles" and rauchy picking style, just an uncanny transcription! Now, you need to do "Black Dog", and "The Ocean" with that same guitar tone! And please make a Playlist of all Zep tunes. Thanks in advance!

I don't think Jimmy Page played the studio solo note for note in concert. You have that studio solo down to a science!
@12bar145ne4 жыл бұрын
Jimmy never played anything note for note live. Clapton was the only one I ever knew that did that, & even he didn't always do it, especially in the long jams Cream played live.
@arminius18044 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Page may have been slightly impaired when he recorded that solo.
@saltyassassin4 жыл бұрын
I would say no, Jimmy probably never plays anything the same way twice.... but remember.... Jimmy was a hot shot studio musician. One of the best.... repetition was the name of the game
@robrippen3 жыл бұрын
@@saltyassassin I agree. He was a great guitarist despite everyone saying what a sloppy player he was. It was just part of his style & yet it worked. Zeppelin wouldn't have been the same without his playing. Being a skilled player on his level there's a very creative side of Page & I can guarantee that's why he had genius ideas as one idea leads to the next. Thats why he was so creative and yeah not everyone wants to hear the same thing as long as it doesn't deviate from the song and goes without saying not every riff is gonna top the one before but that falls to the ear of the beholder. The point is I believe Pages style and his ability to play the songs differently & creatively is part of why his creative side kicked out so many timeless riffs and solos and his soloing... genius. Getting his riffs down, not so difficult at my level of playing but his leads? That's a whole other ball game all together and takes much practice. It takes playing it over & over & over and seldom coming to a conclusion that I've nailed it. When you conclude you've mastered it is when you soon realize maybe not... Its his style of playing which comes naturally to him. To others such as myself not so naturally. Zeppelin songs with Jimmys riffs takes you to another dimension to be able to play them in time. Jimmy is the reason I want a Les Paul as he made that guitar sing and his ability to play the pick ups and get the tones out of a Les Paul has no doubt sold a shit ton of Les Paul's. I've learned his songs on a strat and after I learn at least 15 to 20 LZ songs Solos and all, I will treat myself to a Les Paul as a strat just dosent replicate that Gibson growl.... I'm about half way there thanks to assistance of youtube..... If only this tool would have been accessible when I first started playing, I'd have a Les Paul long ago. Young people today really don't realize how good they have it. When I was younger It was just a mystery to say the least. And even the cats on here that are advanced players, still play it differently from one player to the next.... that's rock & roll....
@003sim3 жыл бұрын
Page couldn't, or rather, wouldn't play anything the same way twice

So glad I discovered your channel today. You play Jimmy's solo runs more accurately than anyone I've ever seen. Every stop, stutter and syncopation is there. I can't even imagine trying to mimic those techniques myself. BRAVO!

Four things I learnt in this video: 1. You are so good. 2. I have a floyd rose, I can cheat for the 2:10 part. (Respect for those who insist playing it with a LP) 3. Bonzo's drum arrangement is godlike. 4. Same for JPJ's bass.

John Paul Jones has a cool tone happening on the recording. I tried to get it close. I wonder what he used!
@tsorpniala98204 жыл бұрын
I am no expert in tones. All I know is that JPJ used a Leslie speaker. A lot of stuff they used are no longer available today, like the tone bender fuzz MKII used by Jimmy in Whole lotta love's solo.
