The day my Dad died I drove to our childhood home. I sat outside (different people lived there) and played this on repeat for about an hour. This song saved my life and my sanity. This song sustained my soul while I was in an abusive marriage. I knew I wasn’t alone as long as I listened to this song. ✌️♥️🎶

So looking forward to this reaction ! During the intro Jimmy is bowing an acoustic guitar behind the wailing sounds of Jonesy's multiple keyboards. This is the only time Jimmy bowed an acoustic guitar. The main guitar riff when the song kicks in is eerie and evil af sounding. The drums are immaculate and Plant's vocals are a home run out of the park. This song can't be categorized or pigeonholed as a specific genre of music. They were inventing a whole new style of music. They went into this realm again on ITTOD on Carouselambra ! "Well, love - it's pain can devour you, if you are never alone..." The song is a minor key and Jimmy plays the guitar solos in a major key.
@markdrechsler5660

That is not a bow on an acoustic guitar. Rather, Jimmy attached a device called a Gizmotron to his guitar. It was invented by Godley & Crème, formerly of 10cc.

@@markdrechsler5660 Not correct - nice try. Jimmy didn't use that until the intro of In the Evening. Jimmy is bowing an acoustic guitar in the intro and the keyboard break in the middle. Go look for an argument somewhere else.

This song had several working titles, most notably "Everybody Makes It Through" but also "In The Morning" and "Take Me Home". As someone else mentioned, Jimmy added multi-tracked bowed acoustic guitar to the opening while Jonesy used a VCS synth. According to Jimmy, they always knew what the construction of song would be, however he had no idea Jonesy would craft such an amazing synthesizer intro. The beginning sounds almost like a call to prayer in the square of a far-off, ancient land as the synth notes snake in one ear and out the other to eerie effect. Then they lower the boom and it grinds into a gritty, slightly menacing groove from the depths of an almost sinister "somewhere". When the guitar comes in, it's almost like it gives the feeling of ascension; I definitely get the feeling of being lifted up out of the darkness and into the light. Zeppelin was never afraid to go to unexpected places.

An overlooked aspect- I feel- of their music is the fact they were students of life, history, love, wisdom, they tried to share universal truths and wisdoms in their own flavor. They were also students of music, even as masters they kept pushing themselves. You can hear it all, a deep respect of life ( yes they were wild) , being alive and their craft, they loved and respected those that came before them

My favorite thing about Zep's studio albums is that Page created the guitar army for each song, laying multiple lead and rhythm guitar tracks on each song, panned to different locations in the stereo spectrum. Every song sounded like they had anywhere from 2 to 6 guitarists playing competing riffs and solos, but it was all just Jimmy being Jimmy!

May I suggest you few things... I know it's a lot, but two suggestions : - I wish you could have react on "Atom Heart Mother", the first track, from Pink Floyd... I know it's a special and a long track, but you can only listen to it, just for you, quietly, with headphones (you already reacted on Pink Floyd a long time ago, and that was great, thanks)... To me, it's just a masterpiece, nothing equal - As a French woman, I wish I could watch a reaction on a special request, and nobody did it before... There was a special concert with two French bands in 2009... Their style is qualified as Dub, Noise, Post Rock, Industrial, Electro, Experimental... These bands are Hint and Ezekiel, they made a concert together all over France, and the album is just pure genius... There are no French lyrics, don't be afraid of that, just music... The concert was named "Collision Tour", there are two tracks I especially love : "Volfony's revenge" and "Versus"... Nobody ever react on these, and it's worth listening, really... If you don't react, don't worry, but just listen and enjoy ❤

You both are able to appreciate it for their abilities to engineer, compose, play, and transcend not only through the ages but your mind as well. In The Light definitely has some Kashmir vibes. The opening is like a snake charmer Indian flute hypnotizing a cobra... Then it strikes! With some psychotic drug. Trying to get up, maybe it's on the album to enhance the next track? Nothing wrong with the song, but contrast is sometimes intentional on albums. We would listen to whole sides, and you can't put all the great songs on one side and fillers in the other.

Yeah, I get what you’re saying, but I have to reference Prince when he said that every Zeppelin song had a different color. I mean yeah, Plant of course is distinctive as vocals are and Bonham and Page were pretty distinctive, but JPJ is the mystery as you say. He’s always doing something different and unique with all the different sounds, styles and instruments he utilizes. He’s a big part of the color differentiation that Prince was referencing. Page also with all the guitar layering and alternate tunings that he did. They were just dope through and through Lol. One could also say one way Zeppelin was distinctive is how their songs were so different from each other with such a wide differentiation of styles or colors if you will.

Watching you two enjoying this band has been a joy. I envy you both hearing these tunes for the first time. I think the Led Heads have grown by 2! ;)

Physical Graffiti was the first "double album" I ever bought.....I wanted to check out the first song on Side One and was so engulfed, I ended up listening to the entire album all at once.....I remember thinking, "Damn, are all double albums this good!"

Another great track off of a truly fantastic album. The thing about Robert Plant is that his voice is truly an instrument.

I think it was compositions like this that made Pete Townshend and Keith Richards jealous.

I listen to a lot of different genres, rock, rockabilly, psycobilly, punk, metal, thrash, old school country, old school rap, swing, and horror rock.... Led Zeppelin has moved me like no other in my life. I would skate to Suicidal all day but come home and lay on the floor in front of my speakers an play Zeppelin to get my mind right. I have truly enjoyed being a part of your journey and appreciation of a piece of musical history. Led Zeppelin isn’t just a classic rock band it’s musical therapy for the soul. I found reaction videos a few years back watched a ton...you guys are the best. You hear the timing changes in the drums, the complicated bass lines and keyboards, harmonicas, mandolins, and the one of kind vocals that make Zeppelin unique. Looking forward to listening to your thoughts on other greats like ZZ Top and SRV. Much love.

I appreciate you guys!! You can only imagine what it was like listening to LZ when they were producing "in the now." Somehow we all knew their sound would stand the test of time. Keep up the great work. Cheers!

Thanks for giving me another reaction video so quickly after I asked LOL. 😂😉😉😉 You guys are truly appreciating it and that is absolutely at least half of the pleasure of watching your videos. Major Led Zeppelin fan at 58 years old. I love when people ask were Led Zeppelin hard rock, were they heavy metal, were they reggae, were they soft, were they country? The answer? They were Led F***ing Zeppelin! (...mic drop...) Absolutely no disrespect to all the other great bands of that era.

JPJ was playing all the keyboards, synth, bass, harpsicord, etc. Bonham was a "man's man" amongst drummers. He absolutely owned every song he ever played on. And obviously Page and Plant are amazing. Great song. Thanks for checking this tune out!

Back in my younger days, when I used to indulge in the happy smoke, In The Light was one of the best songs to listen to after that last puff. Not that I'm particularly proud of that, but it was perfect for the mood!

No shame in that man, I have been enjoying cannabis for 50+ years and still do to this very day. I am relatively healthy, having a ball and at peace as I am listening to tons of great music in my retirement. Rock On and Enjoy!
