I saw the mighty Zep in 77 at The Forum in LA and when he said it's getting hard hard hard ,the crowd and myself went crazy and he said, "that too." It was classic Robert Plant. And that was the show that Keith Moon came out and played drums with Bonzo. And I got a black-and-white photograph of Jimmy Page with his double neck guitar with a Band-Aid on his hand were some moron throw a firecracker at him the night before . I was 16 years old couldn't drive . I had to buy my oldest brother a ticket so he would drive me and my best friend up there. It was a memory I'll never forget.

One of my favorite things about the Led Zeppelin fandom is the vast variety of ages within the fandom. I’m 13 myself, and my mom (36), my grandma and grandpa (56 & 61), and my late great grandma (who shared the exact same birthday as Jimmy Page), all love Led Zeppelin. I know of plenty of other teens and also many other older ones who also love Zeppelin’s music. It’s really cool to me that there’s so many people of all ages who love them. They’re truly the greatest band of all time 💕🔥

In 1970, when I was eleven years old, I bought Led Zeppelin II at K-mart for $2.98 (ouch at the time). Later, when I was in bed with the flu, my big brother 'brought on home' the first album and played Good Times, Bad Times on the stereo in the living room so I could hear it from my bedroom. I was hooked from then on. I told all of my friends for the next 30 years that they would become world famous, and their sound would never die. I was right. Today, Zeppelin outshines them all as the most unique and musically diverse band the world has ever seen.

I claim Jethro Tull to be most diverse Band of that time. 'Ts'eppelin's first 4 albums were great/good before the disappointing big drop in quality came. Tull's glory didn't end until the late 70s after the 3 wonderful albums of their agricultural cycle.
@LimleyGilbert
@LimleyGilbert 7 ай бұрын
@@pietrocantuccini5584 Yes, I can certainly agree. Jethro Tull were an amazing assemblage of exploratory pioneers on the scene as well. And I also concur that albums 1-4, and parts of Physical Graffiti were their best work. I think the drugs and the member divisions caused their downward spiral after late 1975.

@@LimleyGilbert Thanks, Gilbert...2 souls 1 spirit. I wonder whether you also think that the best Zeppelin song ever was "In the Still of the Night" by John Sykes (on the '1987' album of Whitesnake? Ive been a rabid LZ bootleg collector/listener for 40 years (give or take a few)and i agree but would add the one element overlooked...the change in equipment that occurred after the 1975 world tour, mainly JPJ's bass rig and keyboards. Years of touring and partying had hurt Plants voice and heroine def had Jimmy by the balls by 1977 and his playing suffered for it...the only member consistent in their delivery after 75 was Bonham and he was the one who died from excess eventually@@LimleyGilbert

I'm shocked how improvisatory they were. They're basically jamming out their own tunes. The important parts line up but outside of the general arrangement they just go for it. Staggering freedom and musicianship. All you can say is they were all born to do this, in this moment. There's no other way explaining how such young people can be that talented. Today the kids go to conservatories. Back then you were on your own. Just awesome to see.

I'm so sorry my friend that you never got a chance to see them. By the time you were born, I had seen them three times. I would see them once more in 77. The last concert they ever played in america. I was there at the Oakland Coliseum. Judas Priest opened, I mean what an unbelievable concert even though Jimmy was very unhealthy and not at his best. By that time, we loved the band so much we just wanted to see them in person no matter what. They could have stood on stage and read the phone book, would have been fine by all of us. The first time I saw them was 1971 and I am not lying when I say it changed my life. The first time I heard Stairway to Heaven was that night, I love that the first time I heard that song it was live. My friends and I walked out of that auditorium with our mouths open. Just a beautiful evening.

Well they are certainly amazing musicians with great originals but their real genius is composing in the studio _ so many great rock-n-roll bands hard to beat VH, Allman Brothers Band, Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead for on the Road Jam Bands _ actually Zepplin Live could get a little sloppy but its all good __ the Page Plant tour was some of their best live performances with Perl Thompson from the guitar accompaning Jimmy on guitar
@Winter-Lake
@Winter-Lake 9 ай бұрын
@kennethsomers3893 I agree, VH and Allman B.B. were (are) pretty great; something about Led Zeppelin, for me, is hypnotic, erotic, burgeoning divine. Unfortunately, I have an aversion to the R. Stones. My older sister took me to my first concert, which happened to be the Stones. She didn't tell our parents where she was taking me. They never would have allowed it. I was a 10 years old little girl, the sold out crowd soaked in LSD terrified me. I was totally overwhelmed. I'll never forget some strange young man (tripping hard) was covered in blood (according to him he had tried to climb the stage, got thrown out, and climbed back over the wall to get back in to the concert and injured himself), and he wouldnt leave alone. and other young men there not behaving "appropriate" towards me. My sister had to wrap both of her arms around me to hold onto me for the entire concert because I was being pulled away. So, from a 10 years old perspective, the R. Stones were just the soundtrack to a traumatic experience and i can't bear to listen to them. * When my parents found out where my sister took me, she was in MONUMENTAL trouble 😄 ALL that being said, my favorite live performance of Led Zeppelin is," I Can't Quit You Baby" Live at The Royal Albert Hall 1970. But the studio recordings of Kashmir and Levee are a perpetual love.

I saw them eight times from 72-77, and there were times during some of those shows they were rough, maybe sloppy, and at other times absolutely brilliant. But the constant was that by the end of those three hour sets, they blew the roof off the place and you were left totally wrung out. They ALWAYS brought home the bacon. But we got our tickets. Unfortunately the concert was cancelled and when they announced the new date, I couldn't attend due to a family vacation. I was only 16 and my parents wouldn't hear of me missing it. So I didn't get to see Led Zeppelin but I did get to see Robert Plant many years later, in 2011 at the Fox Theater with the band of joy. It was incredible. He surprised us all by singing a few Led Zeppelin songs and giving us that beautiful scream a few times. It was an unforgettable evening. Perfect venue for that perfect voice. And let's not forget the greatest musician who released the greatest song ever, Freddy Lennon (John Lennon's father) and his megahit That's My Life! 😂😂😂. Kidding! Their Idea cauldron of course was in Cutnal Green at the Chequers Pub which is now a posh place. In fact the area is now very Gentrified but back in the 70's it had a raw beauty to it. John is resting in the Church at Rushock is a beautiful place with a visitors book signed by people from all over the world and his grave stone is adorned with drumsticks and curios. RIP John.
