I just turned 63 and I guess I am officially granny age. Never had kiddos so I think I exempt. All I know is that music has never been better than Led Zepplin!!! Love the 70's
@geralddavis81603 жыл бұрын
Absolutely god damn right; the 70's was the decade when the best rock music in history was created. I was a teenager in that decade thankfully, I feel sorry for the young folk and the utter garbage they think is music nowadays.
My mom's favorite rock band is/was Led Zeppelin. I remember being a little kid at a local fair and trying to win one of those little mirrors that had band name on them. I won a Led Zeppelin one for my mom , and she was over the moon! I'm talking like 1982 worlds fair. I was just a baby (4-5) but remember me and my 7 -year-old brother winning that for my mom. Crazy how some things stick in your mind.

Just might have to agree. MAYBE it's just because it's the generation I grew up in, but a whole lot of listeners, music critics, and other various musically educated folks say it's more than that. In just my humble opinion, I'd give the '90's my second up, with a few honorable mentions from the '80's. I fervently wish that after we rolled the dial over to any year starting with a 2, that there was any amount, any body of work, any given contemporary period of musical artistry to recommend, but I am just not hearing it. There are a few exceptions, sure, but I am talking about a new direction of creativity, a new movement in music that actually involves true talent and artistry. Before anyone says it, I listen to ALL kinds of music. I'm listening now, with a full appetite for all and any pioneering musical trends with real craft, skill and inventiveness. Sadly, if I had only the most recent decades, I'd be starving.

My favourite Zepplin song. So well constructed. The slow burn of the acoustic intro, then the second guitar over the top to build it up, the subtle vocals building to the crescendo of the opening riff and screaming vocals of Plant, who was at the peak of his powers in this song. I have no idea how anyone can not consider Zeppelin as the best band ever, bar none. When you look at all four members there is no band with more musically talented members overall, there is not really a 'Zeppelin sound', their songs are so diverse, and last, but far from least, every sound coming off the stage during their live performances was human made, no props, no lip syncing, no dubbing, etc, etc, etc..... And yet they were a legendary live show.

We are so lucky that we can still hear the best here. But nobody is really the best songwriter, or singer or best guitarist, whatever. Jagger is the best jagger etc.

Yes this is the one. You hear the other big ones so many times they lose a bit of their magic. But this one is a delight.

People rely on digital editing and nothing sounds raw and visceral anymore. No ambience. And people either shred constantly, can not play well (just simple power chords, simple solos). Zep were adventurous. They played what they WANTED to. Look at Misty Mountain Hop. Awesome, catchy, simple riff. That was all it needed. But other songs have flashy riffs or solos, not to prove anything, but because it FITS. Tired of hearing shredders that have all the talent in the world, but NO SOUL, NO GROOVE, NO DIRECTION, NO IDEA HOW TO USE...."light and shade", or soft, then heavy. Or you get some band that writes vaguely worded lyrics to appeal to millions, that, when analyzed mean nothing, make no sense, or are contradictory. And the music is lame because you can not build a soulful song around garbage lyrics
