Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

Best thing ever recorded. Every guitar note, riff and lick. Every drum beat, roll and fill. The Hammond organ just filtering through in the delicate moments leading up to the most effective crescendos imaginable. I think I’d even love this without any vocals. Then the vocals. Oh my frickin GOD! And when it’s almost done he tells us “just one more, JUST ONE MORE!” and then “SIIIIIIIINNNCCCE I’ve been loving you”. If this is not the most amazing contribution to the ocean of sound then shut up because it is. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.

Truly the spectacular blues capability of Zeppelin shines. Bonham's structured restrained measured rolls, Page's disciplined riff virtuosos and Plant's spectacular vocal power and range held in place by the latticework of Jones's organ mixed with Page's guitar is just incredible. I cant think of any other blues tune that can play in this league with all the bases covered. It is my favorite Zeppelin performance.

@@KeithRowley418 Yeah, you're sick and tired because you have a choice to be sick and tired or leave it. Black people don't. Assuming that it's the best white blues song out there does not take away its magic of the song. You've got to put into perspective why black bluesmen usually were or started out solo and why Led Zep could have come out with a sound like this. I am fortunate enough to have lived in the Haight Ashbury from its inception, and in those years saw this band a half dozen times. They burst on the scene in the late sixties like a supernova. I consider myself a connoisseur of their material; This is, in my opinion, the superlative guitar solo of Jimmy Page's entire career. I have listened to this track so many times that, in my head, I know every note from three and a half minutes in to four and a half minutes. Having grown up in, and lived in that era, two bands rule: Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, the only two I still listen to.

Wow! Is all I can say every time I hear this song. Correction, any Zeppelin! Thanks to my grandma, I was already exposed to the blues at eight years old in 1970, the year this fantastic, priceless, unforgettable music was given to us. Really started listening to Zeppelin in the 80's and never stopped. Seems when I come back every few months, the songs only get better.

My 5 favorite Led Zeppelin songs are all over six minutes long. "Since I Been Lovin You", "Babe I'm Gonna Leave you", "Ten Years Gone", "The Rain Song" and "Stairway To Heaven". Most radio stations wouldn't even play songs this long, although I remember a Fock Station that always played "Stairway" in its entirety.

Without Jimmy Page's guitar, there is no song. The harmony between Plant and Page is extraordinary, moving, complementary. This is not only one of Led Zeppelin's greatest works but also one of the best compositions of world blues. Despite the passage of time, it sounds fresh, authentic, timeless and few can match them in quality, artistry and greatness.
