This wasn't a "throw away" per se. The BBC Sessions were exactly that - a compilation of performances the band did for at least a couple of BBC programs which were aired on programs such as "Chris Grant's Tasty Pop Sundae" as well as the Paris Theater. This CD was finally issued in the late 90s after Jimmy did some wrangling with the BBC to get permission to release it. Disc one consists of material from four different 1969 BBC sessions. Disc two contains most of the April 1, 1971 concert from the Paris Theatre in London. Disc three was only included in a limited run of album releases and features rare interviews from 1969, 1976/1977, and 1990. This CD also includes a cover of the Eddie Cochran song "Something Else", as well as a medley that went with Whole Lotta Love that includes "Boogie Chillun'"/"Fixin' to Die"/"That's Alright Mama"/"A Mess of Blues". The Complete BBC sessions also included a bonus cd with a song called "Sunshine Woman". This song itself is basically a cover of Sleepy John Estes' song The Girl I love She Got Long Curly Hair from 1929 (it's believed Robert switched it to long, black, wavy hair since that's the type of hair his wife Maureen had), with a couple of nods to other blues legends in the lyric choices. If you notice, the entire riff is basically the same as the opening for "Moby Dick".

Imagine, this was a throw away. This album was like a priceless artifact when it came out, I’d just got into Zeppelin, and then boom. Then the “How the West Was Won” album. This would be a great song JUST with the baseline…but they amped it up, cause Zep gotta Zep bayyyybee.

This is why they are the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band of all time. This song absolutely cooks with starter fluid and sheep grease and it did not even make an album.

Very Satisfying reaction as always, fellas! I don't think you've hit the live version of "Thank You" from this album yet. the drums are MASSIVE . Yes, the DRUMS on soft-spoken "Thank You" are MASSIVE, lol. And Jimmy rips one of the great guitar solos of all time in the same amazing live version. It's on the BBC album, Paris 1/4/71

You guys really should watch live performances, the are so often different then the studio. My 2 favorites I highly recommend are live MSG (1973) Since I’ve Been Loving You. Live at Earls Court the May 25,1975 version of In My Time Of Dying. Both live are killer, & you guys would love them.

If you listen closely, this sounds like a very early version of Moby Dick. Of course the lyrics are different, but that backbeat, bass, and rhythm guitar are very similar

Search for "10 Ribs & All / Carrot Pod Pod" instrumental from Presence album deluxe edition, "St. Tristan's Sword" from Coda deluxe edition and 'Jennings Farm Blues" and "Key to the highway" from LZ 3 deluxe edition. And the REAL hidden pearl of studio outtakes is the unfinished and unpolish "Fire Say You're gonna leave me" from 1978; it's sad that they never completed this monster of a track: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bquufp6Mr9Z7bdU

Can I please suggest you listen (or watch) 'Page and Plant Unledded - No Quarter' album. 14 excellent tracks, 10 Led Zeppelin tracks and 4 none LZ tracks. Page and Plant with 3 different groups of backing musicians. I'll say no more but the experience in most cases is electrifying - even though they are unplugged. Cheers

The BBC Sessions was a great release, however some songs had to be edited for copyright purposes. Listen to this version of communication breakdown where they sneak a little bit of the Isley Brothers It's Your Thing in the jam section. I've mentioned this to you guys a couple of times in comments but I actually graduated high school with the Isley Brothers sons. True story LOL kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZiXqKlmbaqrfKcsi=uoxMmUJwjNlj9SwQ
