This was released in 1969 off of Led Zep II album.... All 4 of these guys were musical geniuses and played off of each other. Their live shows were insane. Not much was "scripted". They disbanded after the sudden tragic death of John Bonham(drummer) in 1980. They felt they couldn't replace him...and said "It wouldn't be Led Zeppelin anymore". Don't know if you've seen Jimmy and Robert "play" off each other while Jimmy does a "solo" on a sonic wave Theremin instead if his guitar in Whole Lotta Love at Madison Square Garden but, it's EPIC and shows how well these guys worked together. Great reaction as always!

I remember when their very first album came out. I was in college. A friend called us into his room to hear it. We just couldn't believe what we were listening to. It was too good to be true. To me, Led Zeppelin is and always has been a BLUES band, and this song is one of the very best examples of why I say that. It's pure blues. And blues is the root of rock.

Jimmy Page is a monster on the electric guitar The sounds and riffs he has come up with over the years are the best sounds and riffs ever heard in Rock. I actually saw Jimmy in 1966 at the Rochester War Memorial in Rochester, New York. He was the sole guitarist in the Yardbirds at the time. My eyes must have bugged out of my head when he pulled out a bow during one number, and produced some of the eeriest sounds I had ever heard from a guitar. What a memory. It was a sign of things to come, when Jimmy would form Led Zeppelin ...

'Killing Floor' was played by the strongly blues influenced Zepp. live in 1968 & 1969. The track, recorded in LA, was released on Atlantic's Led Zeppelin II on 22/10/1969. The song has a long somewhat muddied history, with Chester Burnett (aka Howlin Wolf} also credited from back, at least, to 1937.

Listening to Bonham & JPJ jam the rhythm together... there's a moment where they're both reacting to the vocal and react in slightly different ways... then get it fully back together gloriously

🎼☯️ Robert Plant sang new life into the “blues”. Jimmy Page tools the “blues” like a hero on guitar. John Paul Jones lays it down in the “blues” basement. And drummer John Bonham threw his sticks into the rhythm of the “blues” like nobody’s business.🎼☯️

I can't rank Zeppelin songs; rather I go for mood and pick the best song of theirs for the mood I'm into at the time. Just go for the vibe and you won't have to worry about picking best, second best, etc. because you'll already have it, know what I mean?

Zep "borrowed" this from blues legend Willie Dixon. Killin' Floor is the song, which in it's own right totally kicks ass. Of course Zeppelin took the ball and ran with it. I know you dig the Beatles, interesting fact: Zeppelin was the first band to have a #1 album after Abbey Road dropped to #2...
