I've left this bad boy alone for too long, and its time to get it down. Excellent lesson, and it will be a joy to work it through. Just another example of Page's ability to change tempos, keys and attack in a heartbeat. Look forward to more of your lessons.

Wanted to play this song since before you were born. Saw Zep play it live in Dallas in 1977. Picked up my guitar again after 20 years of neglect and discovered the joys of youtube for guitar. Wish I'd had youtube 40 years ago. :( You're fucking awesome, bro!

thanks for sharing that cool story! I wish I had the chance to see Zeppelin live, but I was too young. My favorite Zeppelin concert is their reunion Celebration Day Live Concert DVD. The video and audio are all hd, and they sound and look incredible in 2007!

Enjoyed the lesson, found it helpful. I wish you would post the rest of the song though!

Thanks, I thought of that, but as you can see from this rhythm licks video and intro, it lasted over 26 minutes, and to video lesson the solos, the video for the solos would be well over one hour just for the solos (I don't think anyone would watch it, way too long.)

Thanks for the lesson. Keeping it simple is the best way. I've been avoiding this song for a long time because of the complexity, but it's been on my bucket list forever. I do best when I get the basic feel and a few chords and then the rest kinda falls into place. It's going to take me a few weeks to get this right, but then, that's the fun of it, 'cause I only do it for fun, but I'm picking it up faster than I expected. I have a '70s Greco Les Paul copy that I bought at a pawn shop years ago, don't know much about it or what it's got but it sounds great and plays as nice as any real Les Paul I've played, with real pretty brass keys. Doesn't matter if you present all the solos because I can figure them out as I go, and, besides, Jimmy improvises all the time, anyway, so if it sounds good, it's right, and it's good enough for me. Thanks again, man, You're doing a great service. Good job!

I always assumed SRTS was not in standard tuning because it proceeds Rain Song of the live record, but now I realize they just arranged the songs like they were on Houses - unless Jimmy has two double necks. :)

Best lesson for this on YT. Thanks for that - I've been after learning this for a while but hought it was going to be too complicated. Well explained and nice pace. Cheers. Mike.

99% of the video: TALKING 1% Playing guitar
@80shairmetalband5 жыл бұрын
You try to tell each and every note from The Song Remains The Same and see how long it takes to tell every note, there's hundreds and hundreds of notes, not counting the solos which are about 1,000 notes each. That's why the "lesson" has to have talking to say all the notes, and that's why I did not include the main solos, because they would have lengthened the video by about one hour of talking with only 3 minutes of playing.
