I bought the kind LEDX 220 and I cannot use the red IRUV spectrum because even with it on its lowest setting at 25% my eyes burned horribly even with LED protective glasses on after only being in the tent for a few minutes. It felt like I looked at somebody welding with no mask on.
@jerryn7279 ай бұрын
I would look into the green spectrum mammoth lighting has. Shane from migro and Bruce bugbee did a podcast and discussed the lack of green in fixtures and the benefits that spectrum provides the plants. It penetrates deeper into the plant driving the photosynthesis process deeper in the plants tissues, and anti microbial properties.

Then there is the Grand Master Borg that is also absolutely killer. THe optics have great pricing while the borg is pretty expensive but I would stand by my word in saying that those I mentioned outperform anything on this list. Not sold on the Mints although I do like Mammoth lights. We've always been told that green does not promote growth thus why we use it when lights are out to work on plants. . .Also it's funny how all the shit talk about blurple lights went down but I'm starting to see a lot more lights with blue and red diodes being added again. Man the only two lights on here these are worth it is mars hydro and I would get the FC-e versions and the smart 8! Some of the lights you had on here were 1000$ you might as well get a GML light they are by far the most inferior lights out right now but if you wanna save money and have an amazing grow get the smart 8 plus or the smart 8 light from medic grow

Bro they’re overpriced blurples . Always have been. I fell for it bout 10 years ago. Thought I’d invest in a lil better light since switching to LEDs years ago and didn’t get much better coverage for the 2000 dollars I spent on a single light. Bought a couple more Vipaspecta PAR600s and got a much better uniform converge with 4 of those over a 5x5 than I ever did with Blackdog at half the price. Back then they’re wasn’t many options that had uniform coverage. Was CMH in the Winter and LEDs in the summer. But yea I wouldn’t recommend blackdog 10 or 12 years ago and especially wouldn’t today.

@@timpage5021 I agree that they are pricey, but I don’t think it’s fair to compare the technology from five, and definitely not 10 years ago, to what the company is producing now. I checked them out at CannaCon, they’re not as blurple as they used to be, they’re more of a white light in person and their UV and IR spectrum is phenomenal. They also removed the cover over their lenses a couple years back, to improve the coverage of the light and the penetration. I don’t mind paying for good product, that’s also manufactured in the US.

@@timpage5021 I agree that they are pricey, but the technology in the fixture that they produce now can’t be compared to the fixture that they produced 5 to 10 years ago. Their UV and IR spectrum is phenomenal. I don’t mind paying a little bit more money for something that’s manufactured in the US.

@timpage5021 that couldn't be more wrong. Blurple refers to blue and red light only. Black Dog has a real full spectrum. UV to IR. They use actual UV diodes in their light. Does your light have UV diodes? Or is it white light that "bleeds" Into UV a bit. Major difference if you're looking for that extra push. Yes white light grows plants, but plants want a full spectrum of light their entire life - like the sun provides. This includes UV. Plus being designed and built in the U.S. is more than enough reason to buy a light from them in my opinion. Those rebranded Chinese lights don't equate to being better because they're cheaper.

@@Justin2C25 Blackdog has never put a single UV chip in any of their lights ever. And blurple refers to the blue purple light they emit. You’re talking to someone who’d been using LEDs as their primary source for lights. Blackdog hasn’t updated the Phytomaxx since 2014 .

2k+ ppfd is overkill. The sun gives about 1800 ppfd at noon midsummer. You will need a lot of co2, way more water, and a lot food to use anymore than 1500 ppfd.

Yeah that shit is just excessive, the dimmer switch is needed for this very thing lol
