Former Conservative deputy chair, Lee Anderson MP, has defected to Reform UK - becoming the party's first member of parliament.
Mr Anderson, who took the seat of Ashfield from Labour in 2019, was stripped of the Conservative Party whip after refusing to apologise for claims Islamists had "control" of London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

The Tories are finished! They have now lost the pensioner vote, as they cynically agreed to the triple lock and knowing all along they would not increase the personal tax allowance so giving with one hand and taking back with the other. Most pensioners have paid tax and NI their entire lives, and expect to be treated fairly but have been totally let down by this lot.
@SubjectiveFunny
@SubjectiveFunny 5 ай бұрын
The problem is that they will default to Labour, and get the exact same treatment, if not worse. Reform is a viable option, and ANYTHING is better than the 2 parties we have had.

Treated fairly? Consider that most public servant who are actually working have scarcely received a pay rise in the last decade, they have been treated well. Considering they have for decades accumulated insane amounts of equity on their properties, they have done very well.

Shouldn't younger generation be treated fairly. Should they pay 9x average wage for a house, should they bear the cost of unaffordable childcare, should they have tax thresholds frozen to fund the triple lock?

As a Romanian born British citizen, and as a part of British working class, I will definitely vote Reform! I’ve been a @light” conservative mind all my life, however the state of the country requires extraordinary decisions. I’m tired of the same old poetry coming from the two main parties with no practical decisions being taken. The crime, the tones of litter on our streets, the millions of potholes, the state of economy overall and nonetheless the dying state of the British culture , all which require a strong hand and reformed politics for that matter!!

He knew he had lost the vote in Ashfield at the next election, (standing for the tory's). So what had he to loose, £100.000 from reform undoubtedly helped Lee make this decision. "I want my country back" Not sure if joining "reform" will help him on this "quest" will it?. I thought It was Donald Trump stood behind the flag for the minute!.

It is a strange situation. People seem frustrated with the Tories because they did not implement the policies they promised through Brexit but then they consider voting Labour who will give them even more (than the Tories) of what they don't want! So, yes, I think if people of the Brexit ilk think logically (and they did make up ~50% of the population), Reform will probably do quite well.
