Lee APP Press Best Upgrade

This has to be the best upgrade for the Lee APP press. Should also work with the newer Lee ACP press.

Extremely simple yet so functional. Without this every time you want to switch calibers you have to deal with adjusting the case feeder height. It's not terrible, but is definitely not anywhere near as simple as this makes switching calibers!

I used PETG filament from this brand, but PLA + should work perfect, and will be easier to print especially if you’re like me, and haven’t dialed in PETG settings yet. 😂.

Helpful video. I’ve been polishing/honing my X-press shell holders with some 600 grit silicone carbide paper wrapped around a mini file. Cleanup the slots on the sides. The casings slide through like butter now.

This, and even when using carbide dies I use lube. As you said like butter. Sometimes it’s so smooth you feel like you got the 380 that snuck through 😂. Thanks for watching

@@2A_CaliGuy yup, I lube my pistol cases before resizing even with the carbide dies. Easier on the dies, the press, the brass, and my old worn out shoulder. They go in for their final bath after that anyway.

I saw a similar setup on Johnny"s Reloading Bench, and his are long enough for some rifle brass. Your setup looks like it is easier to change calibers though. Thanks for the video.

The Lee APP has been a great addition to the bench. Makes processing buckets of pistol brass easy. The case feeder definitely helps . Thanks for watching

You know, if you're going to use ball detents in the base to assist in aligning the tubes, you may as well go ahead and place one on each side of the caliber adapter bushings to hold them in place instead of using decapping pins. Maybe ad some ridges to the 2 outside edges to assist in gripping while removing them.

Yeah that would be a better solution, and the ridges would be epic. Can be tough getting them out cause they’re flush with the main body. . If I need to make another I’ll pop it in Fusion, and make the edits. Appreciate the ideas.

Good question I’m not sure. I found the files while browsing. Made some edits on fusion to make it work for me with my setup. However I’m not sure if it’s available to purchase.

Thanks for the helpful video man. I was this might be a dumb question, but where did you find that Shute/bin with the hose attached that is acting as your brass collector?? It is awesome and i'd like to figure out where to find something like that. I imagine a hardware store? Thanks again man!

The funnel is 3D printed, hose is from a shop vac, and to old the funnel I used a bin mount for the standard stacking bins that come from harbor freight!

The Lee original I had came from Lee. I’m sure other places have them. The new green on I put on is a 3D printed file. I searched for LEE APP, and came across it. Great part about this design is you don’t have to adjust anything anymore. Just pull the pins, and swap the part. I’m not positive, but I think the original designer monetized it. Search on Cults many designers moved away from Thingiverse. I moved all my stuff off also. The original files needed remixing. It is an excellent concept. Didn’t take much to modify it to work great. I used fusion to open the adapters up width wise, and changed the cut away exit portion for specific cartridges so it really is a set, and swap. With the originals it required adjusting for some. Sorry I can’t link anything, or send files per KZbin. Find me on Rumble same name
