Thank you very much for the tour of this classic cast breech lock. This video assisted greatly in my decision to get one. Thank you.

I've loaded a few thousand rounds so far (308, 9mm, 10mm, and 45ACP) with no problems. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Brief and excellent introductory presentation of the press I am researching to acquire. Your video assisted me in understanding the "breech lock" aspect of the press and it's superiority (for me) to the standard model. Keep up the good work!

I've been very happy with it. I've loaded several hundred 308, 1000 9mm, several hundred 45ACP, and several hundred 10mm. No problems at all so far.

For the spent primers to be properly directed you have to install the priming arm, otherwise they fall out the wrong side.

The Lee classic cast will except the Hornady quick change adapter that Hornady makes for the RCBS rock chucker and the classic cast will do as large as the 50.BMG and the 50 dies have the same thread as the Hornady adapter.

cybot63 Really? i got the breech lock classic cast and I've read that the bushings will accept only the standard size dies (up to .460 Wetherby). The non-breech lock accepts 1 1/4-12 dies as well, but this one doesn't. So my question is, using the Hornady bushings can I load .50 bmg in the Breech Lock version of the Classic Cast? Please write soon. Thank you!

I've been thinking of getting this unit. It's this or the 4-hole turret press with auto indexing, but I've heard the auto indexing sometimes gets wonky because of a plastic part it heavily depends on. Thanks for the video.

So do you need one of the breech lock adapter inserts for each died that you're going to use? Does the dye stay attached to the part that clicks into place? Sorry I don't know all the names. Just wondering if I would need to get four more of them if I add another caliber of dyes that I wanted to use. I hope that made sense
@jayphilipwilliams3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Michael. Yes. The more die sets you have, the more adapters you'll want to buy. Technically, you COULD just move them between dies, but that would defeat the purpose and benefit of very quick swaps between calibers, and would be lots of work. It's a small price to pay for the convenience of quick caliber swaps.

@@jayphilipwilliams I agree. I did start looking around and I found some of the adapters for sale in sets of 2 3 and 4

What's the advantage of the cast iron compared to the challenger aluminum press.
@jayphilipwilliams3 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with the Challenger aluminum press. I do know cast iron is rigid, durable, and inexpensive, but can't really compare it with the Challenger. Sorry.

Some have said the aluminum might not be suitable for the "heavy" rifle calibers and conversions. I'm looking at the cast myself, midway has one they call the updated with the breech lock adapter for $179.

How do you like it, I have been fence sitting between chalenger and classic cast, then i found out i chan get cast and breechlock, think I have to have it. It will be my first press. the lateral piston play you noted, has it cause you any problems?

I have never been in such a big RUSH while "reloading" that I can't take the few seconds necessary to "unscrew" a die ! It boggles my mind to think that some one, some where thought this method to "save a few seconds" while doing something as critical as reloading, was even necessary 🤔!!!!!

It makes me mad that most kits don't have a reloading tray.

Might be a stupid question, but how much pressure or pounds of force would you say this or the "C" version provides? Probably depends on one's own strength? Thanks, agw.

A function of the lever arm, the linkage, how sturdily you've attached it to your bench, and how hard you push. Probably in the hundreds.
