I’ve had a very successful career as a songwriter/session musician over the last 20 years and it was actually inspired by Lee. I saw the guy spinning his drumsticks on Top Of The Pops looking cool and stuff and I thought ‘I’ll try that out’. Oddly I learnt to spin the sticks before I was any bloody good on the drums. So yeah, cheers mate!

I was the road manager for Let Loose. i loved them and supported them emotionally, sharing their lives and tough time on the road. I was part of the management. Not the Manager. but knowing what i know now i would have done it differently. not saying that I would have done it better. Success is really attached to little details, it does happen or it doesnt,,,, That s life. Dominique Ventura (Road manager for Let Loose and Ant and Dec)

Love your channel Ally-Lee said about, people do stuff in their bedroom now but back then had to go in a proper recording studio to record stuff. Not totally true, you had bands/artists like Kate Bush, Phil Collins, Genesis, Mike + the Mechanics, Peter Gabriel, OMD, Bryan Adams after a few years did their albums in their own home studios. And saved them a fortune. I met Lee twice very nice guy, I have also met you before mate-had a 20 + min chat about stuff in London back in the 90's! 😃 I'm in Kent btw right between Dartford/Bexleyheath!

Just found this channel by chance. Currently doing the old TOTP’s on BBC4 and a book called Reach For The Stars about late 90’s pop so it’s quite timely. Fantastic insight so consider me a new subscriber.

Hi. This is great but it's spoiled by Lee not bothering to hook up a microphone. Can you ask future guests to please use a microphone. Even if it's just one from their phone. Thanks

Seventeen was a great song. I think if crazy for you had made number 1 you’d have stood out more and probably done better. Bad timing re: wet wet wet I think. But in my opinion let loose we’re great and I’m glad you’ve got back together

Wow, what an interesting conversation. I've always been interested in the truths behind the veneer and what life is really like for pop stars. I was actually a friend of Stuart Long, who Lee mentioned and he told me how hard the band worked and how long it took to get any success. He told me at the time that they were just about ready to pull the plug before Crazy became and hit and was so pleased for them when they finally made it. I always thought they were so underrated and Smash Hits and the like didn't do them any favours, saying they were too old and such. I think Ally is right. Let Loose were packaged wrong. They should have been marketed like Wet Wet Wet and toured with them. What a missed opportunity. As for Bad Boys Inc I thought Love Here I come was awesome and I still listen to it to this day. More songs like that on a second album and they could have flown. It must be so crushing to work so hard 24/7 for years and have nothing to show for it. So many groups of that time went through the same thing. Dozens and dozens. I remember Deuce being one. Some great songs and worked their butts off and one of them even had a job as a cinema usher to make ends meet for God's sake. Scandalous. Loving this channel and your great content and I wish you big success with it, Ally.

Loved watching this ❤ so insightful and interesting thank you! As a child of the 80’s idolising you guys, also trying and failing to make it as an artist in the music industry myself. Just goes to show how much hard work was involved for you and what a toll it must’ve taken to not be in full control when the labels are so controlling. I’ve subscribed 💕 look forward to seeing more. Big hugs 🤗

Finally got round to watching all this, brilliant hearing from Lee and yourself Ally about your journeys during and after pop careers. You should try and speak to Damage, I know they came out of the band originally somehow responsible for hundreds of thousands in debt personally. Keep them coming mate.

You're a really good interviewer, Ally. I liked Bad Boys Inc. As i said to Matthew, the band deserved so much more success - he has a fantastic voice.
