Lee-on-Solent airfield near Southampton, UK is the training and operations base for the UK Coastguard operating AW189 helicopters.
A two-seat Spitfire is also operated by Boultbee Flight Academy giving flights over the English Channel. (These cost £2750 for 30 minutes in November 2018.)
Britten Norman aircraft manufacter, maker of the iconic Islander twin, are now based here (formerly based at Bembridge, IOW). They still sell the Islander and military Defender variant but are turbine powered BN2T versions, these days. The two examples in the video were painted with Union Flags to celebrate the company's 50 year anniversary.
The video was taken from the viewing area of the '05 Cafe'. this is at the start of runway 05 by the coast and is an excellent way to watch aircraft close-up. Visiting light aircraft park opposite this viewing area and the Spitfire operates from the apron tens of feet from the viewers.
