I was in Andertons before Xmas, passing by as my work takes me all over the UK. I wanted to come into the store to indulge in some expensive guitars in the 'lounge'. I played stuff from the Custom Shop Korina V to PRS Paul`s Guitar and the stand out was a little Cub in the demo room. I drove away thinking about it and ended up ringing up and they had a B-Stock one for about £500 off. Couldn`t pass on it! So happy I went for it as its been fantastic. Took it to an open mic i was hosting with my duo partner and ended up having one of my first ever impromptu jam with another musician. It already feels like 'my amp' as it just has great sounds in all settings and modes. Thanks Andertons and BadCat for helping with my musical journey!

Lee, When you say "it's got that sound of a British sounding amp" I have to comment...fifty years ago when my whole band was playing through Silvertone amps, they were 6L6s and 12ax7s which I still have in my Mesa Rectifier...I love them because I can get any clean, or dirty sound I want, and there's not a British stick or straw in 'em. Don't get me wrong, I love the Bad Cat and all those HiWatt things you guys have enjoyed forever. PeteTownshend and Danish Pete Forever!! And I love some of your licks, too Lee! I think Anderton's is phenomenology! The old Sears Silvertones sold for $100 back in the 60s and today you can't touch them for under $1000. Jensen 12" Speakersx2. We called them Silvertone Twin Twelves..sort of a poor man's Fender rig. But I'll hold my Mesa Single Rectifier up against any amp nowadays. (I'm that 73 year old Bloomfield bio geezer from Portland)

That Jet Black, especially with that tele to my ear, sounds incredible. Really like that. Great video guys. Would love to hear a comparison of the head/cab and the combo. I have a hard time justifying the cost given my experience and use case, however, as someone who longs for a **truly** minimalist rig (not the "modeler" minimalist, but the "one amp and a pedal or two" style), when all things are added up, it's not as "bad" as one might think compared to something like a good modeler, a good frfr, maybe a decent amp, and a couple of pedals. As someone who loves the idea of modelers but just can't get into the menu diving and complexity, investing in a great and versatile amp might not be as out there as I originally thought. Necessary for me? Not even close. Reasonable? Probably not either. But maybe, just maybe. :)

I have recently purchased a Cub combo from Andertons and whilst it is good, it isnt perfect. The front facing knobs are OK for studio or at home, but not great for standing up gigging. The writing on the dials is tiny and virtually invisible when gigging. The output from the effects send is very low. It hardly drives my pedals. It never seems quite loud enough. So, great sounding amp that works well with a Duellist, but not a panacea for a gigging musician.

Hi, So beginner guitar player with a multi effect unit, what should he pick for speaker, 1. PA speaker 2. Studio monitors or 3. Passive guitar cabinet with some amp pedal or head, the 3rd option might be the most expensive depending what you pick but also if you use a guitar cabinet then you don't need to use IR . I don't know if this would be an interesting topic.
@chinchillax148311 ай бұрын
An FRFR speaker is also an option to consider, or at least look into the advantages over a full range flat response over just a PA speaker. They’re supposed to be more true to the sound

It's obvious that the tone is inspiring the shit out of them. They sound great raw, vintage but you can tell the way people play them that they feel great like great tube amps. Meaning its more that the tone, as Fractal and UA can sound great but it's to quote Joe 😊bonamassa it's not a result of that "symbiotic relationship with the guitar and player" like it is with a great tube amp. The vibrations that move the hairs on your body and really rattle your insides are absent on modeling amps. If you have driven a Tesla, they have no acceleration timing like a internal combustion engine where you slam the pedal down and there's that split second delay before massive tork slams your body back into the seat. The Tesla is so fast but has such even Acceleration that you don't feel its power even though they are faster than any internal combustion engine. The Tesla is like the perfect looking classically gorgeous woman who is great but does not have that animalistic pheromonal visceral thing that some super hot women who may not be museum pieces but are just sexy as hell. A great tube amp is at times and volumes a bit rough around the edges and temperamental but dynamic, responsive, explosive and filthy but articulate and beautiful. It's not like a jazz amp which, frankly, the top modeling amps tend to play like from a physical. Connection perspective. They might sound like a classic tube amp but the physical connection between the player and the amp is absent and the physical feeling is sterile and therefore it may allow for perfect playing but not that ballsy and let it all hang out type playing that most rock and blues cats live for. The most intrinsically great performances are predicated on the player feeling like he is indistinguishable from his guitar and rig. He is part of the signal chain. Playing a pristine amp or driving a Tesla is more like highly precise surgery vs driving a high powered truck through a muddy unpredictable trail. I am talking out of my ass but those of you who live driving cranked tube amps (a totally different skill set than playing a digital amp) know exactly what I am talking about The former is like controlling a wild horse and the latter is like sailing over glassy water with wind moving in one direction where the players ability to tame the dragon is not tested. The rig doesn't fight back.

@boops18349 ай бұрын
I'm in the market for a good clean pedal platform in that price range. Having to try to dial an amp in to get the tone I get from my pedal board seems redundant. An amp with a magical clean tone, lots of headroom, that doesn't get in the way of my pedals, is what I want.

Can’t help but think that Bad Cat has been missing a trick by not having any options between 5-15watts.
@badcatmatthew11 ай бұрын
Appreciate the feedback. We want the Master to act as you'd hope it would, rather than relying on power switching options or lower wattage spin-offs to get the amp sounding right when played at a lower level. No point pretending that being able to let the amp really breathe isn't the most glorious way to enjoy it, but when you aren't in a position to open the taps you'll find some righteous tones at more polite levels too without the need to switch stuff in and out or have an amp that is underpowered for rehearsal/gigging. We're not averse to lower wattages though...
