Received mine over the weekend and finally had a chance to try it out yesterday. I primarily purchased it to deprime prior to cleaning brass. The unit works great once you have it adjusted correctly. I also purchased the universal case feeder and collator so I can load more brass in the machine at one time. All in I spent approximately $150 with the options.

I have had the press for about three days. Instructions state that it is not for resizing. I tried to resize 9mm with it and had some issues. Winchester brass would pull out of the pass through xpress-shell holder and stick in the die. You can use a normal shell holder to resize, but that eliminates the automation. Also when bulge busting I twisted the handle up quite a bit. The handle is made out of 1/8" steel so is quite flexible, especially since the design is offset and secured with only one bolt through the knob. I also drove a case right through the plastic rail when bulge busting when the slider did not push the case all the way to the center. JB welded back together, with small file and 400 grit sand paper got in back running but not like new. Have new rail on order from LEE Precision.

Just checked Factory Sales Lee wholesale $ 99.00 deluxe kit BUT there is a primer pocket swagger available for small and large primer pockets. It will be great to have a dedicated progressive case prep machine !

That's the biggest selling point to me to be honest. That and the bullet sizing. progressive decapping and so on is pretty easy to do on the progressive press that I have. Were it not for the swaging function I'd say just spend $100 bucks and get a full progressive press. As is this is a beautiful companion.

I really like the way this press looks. For depriming I have have been doing something similar with a universal deprimer as the only die on the turret head on a Lee Loadmaster. The only thing that sucks is having to change the turret head between depriming and loading. So this thing looks cool. But the one thing that I thought sucked about this press is the single feed tube and no collator. Thanks for showing that the old four feed tube setup and collator works. This video is the first I have seen those work together. Also, the sales web pages is not clear on what comes with the press, so thanks for showing what comes with it.

ThecrazyScotsman I don't cast bullets but I believe one of the main goals of this press is for lead bullet sizing. I've already done a couple of thousand 9mm decap and resize. I can tell you the only limitation is how fast can you move the handle. With the 4 tube case feeder and collator this press knocks out brass in short order. One drawback is full length rimless bottleneck resizing is questionable. 223 is pretty much a no go because a third of the shell holder is missing to allow the brass to pass through. But I have seen 308 work, I suppose because the base is thicker.

I was looking at the bottle design. Its actually made with thick threading that protrudes 1 hundredths of an inch (~ 3/32) and about as thick as a Gatorade bottle lip. Can you use the old Lee push though sizer kits on this press? Like install the sizer into a breech lock bushing and use it instead of buying the new "bll bullet sizer" (the one you used in the video)? I mean, sure it won't have a bottle adapter, but if it works that would be great.

Hey brother thanks for the other comment aswell. Yes you can install the older push through sizer. It will have to be on the bottom breech lock as the press handle will go over the top. Thank-you! Outstanding press! Love the innovation. About the case feeder supports, found it easier to just have the biggest tube setup to mitigate the hassle of disassembling the support and switching around when sizing cases like 45 ACP then bullet sizing .356. Seems easier and faster just to drop the reducer. The universal case feeder would be a great replacement. As for the cases jamming up on the shell holder, I've found it's due to the cases being inserted slightly tilted. The rim of the cartridge will then hang on the shell holder. Cases need to be fully guided from the bottom
@johnlee-tl5co4 жыл бұрын
@@EagleEyeShooting Off the App page on the lee website. " Several users had trouble with cases reliably entering and passing through the X-press shell holder. The cause of problem is the shell holder does not freely rotate. When a case with the slightest nick on the rim or extractor groove or any sort of distortion tries to enter the shell holder it binds. The harder it binds the harder the fingers grip the case. We have a solution that completely solves the problem. We have increased the chamfer on the bottom of the X-Press shell holder. This prevents the detent from applying any pressure on the shell holder and allows free rotation in the shell holder adaptor. Remove detent. Until we can fill the pipeline with these new shell holders you can simply remove the detent from the shell holder adaptor (see left). Replace the detent if you are using standard press shell holders or bullet sizer punch. When the shell holder is free to rotate cases will flow like water through the X-press shell holder." Using the tube as a liner is a great idea. We in fact use this on the bullet feeder for our presses. I don't know why we didn't think of it in this application.

Junk... thank god it was only 105 delivered... eBay here we come. Will not process full-length bottleneck cases. From there it is pretty much a standard Lee-P product. Good idea just poor execution. I was trying to use it for 223/7mm tcu/300 blackout and all it did was result in stuck cases. Before anyone asks yes I used lee dies and the proper lube. I contacted their support email and receive the following response. Andy @ Lee Precision Staff - 06/19/2020 2:52 pm The X-PRESS shell holder allows easy automation on the APP press, however, the pass through design reduces the amount of “pull” that can be applied to the cartridge. That said, we do not recommend full length resizing rimless bottle neck cases. If you insist, we suggest using only Lee dies and Lee case resizing lubricant# 90006. Only Lee dies include a built-in stuck case remover in the event you damage a rim and stick a case. My concern with this instrument isnt de-capping, My concern is entirely conceptual. Quite the opposite of the tried and true. The flimsy looking stanchions in this case supporting the die using the exponential dimensional in this case ocular formula that used in determining mechanical advantage ratio results in formulaically infearior required values. Ultimately used in determining the accuracy of your overall outcome. For other than decapping you notice LEE doesn't tout SIZING. Ah ha! The APP out come as applied in sizing is unsound. Applying instead of a solid steel machined linear mechanical ram with perfect concentricity, that is what you're paying for, when you buy a Lee Press, you are buying their reputation, their remarkable perfectly machined rams fitted with American levels of craftsmanship. Which is to say uncompromising. Your assured of no runout. They are perfectly fabricated. That is what you pay for. Their single stage to the turret press, down to .00000 Lee is / was in a world of TikTok and growing American mental liquidation perfect concentricity, precise resolution repeated millions of times. This level of precision permits the exertion of a ratio of over 10,000:1 . The App ? Not so much. If you were to have an accident and dropped the APP my concern would be the light of weight constitution of the assembly, When they manufacture a 4 roller bearing die block articulating / arching on a 50LB casting required to reinforce and assure the die meets perfectly the casing well then I would still have my doubts. Occam's Razor.

Don't bother loading tubes with long shells. Remove the tubes. Drop 1 shell at a time. Once you get the rhythm, you can fly through the brass. I just completed 1000 round box of range 223 5.56 brass. For me. I found the handle up. Drop in her brass. less messing around.
